AIRBOUND WITH TONY BRISTOL = CANCELLED

New Hits Now; Airbound with host Tony Bristol has been cancelled and taken off all Citadel stations including 92 PRO-FM out here.

Also, FUN 107 it has been taken off of - though, Christine Fox put her voice over on the show.

Oh well... it happens. Shows get Canceled in Hollywood all the time. He'll live. Now he can start fresh and develop something that will get better ratings.

It has nothing to do with ratings. It has everything to do with Elliot Spitzer and the payola scandal. Airbound was Citadel's pay-for-play vehicle. The labels would spend a boatload of cash to get their songs on the show. Sometimes songs would even be played twice in an hour if the label wanted to pay for it. Multiply those spins by all the Citadel stations who aired the show (three times a weekend) and a flegling record on the charts would get a nice spin bump. Citadel is dumping the show so that they don't look like their taking label money in exchange for airplay, which was exactly what was happening. The last few shows Bristol was introing and outroing each song with disclaimers like "the following is/was paid for by Snakeinthegrass records" It sounded really bad. This is a C-Y-A move by Citadel. Nothing more.
