I've been wondering how & when MPEG-4 streams would start being added to DTV channels.(snip) Some Hispanics may be getting a tech jump on us Anglos with this!

Some Mexican digital stations have been using MPEG-4 subchannels for quite a while now. There has been some discussion on AVS Forums about viewers in San Diego using software defined computer OTA tuners to receive MPEG-4 signals out of Tijuana.

Wonder what Tijuanans use? If there are free MPEG-4 subchannels in Baja California Norte, presumably MPEG-4 STBs are available too. Are they restricted from export to the US, or are they just useless in the US for some obscure technical reason?

This is the "airbox" type service that was available in Mexico via stations of the TV Azteca network.

But I believe the service ran into regulatory issues: They thought they were free to transmit encrypted pay channels along with their free OTA channels, but the government thought otherwise.

Has the Airbox lineup in Houston changed? Here in Phoenix, where they haven't yet rolled out the service, they've dropped iSorpresa! and added NFL Network.

The Airbox website I see here in Houston lists Cine Mexicano, GolTV, NFL Network, iSorpresa!, Pasiones and TeleFormula as part of the "Paquete Latino" package, with Starz as an additional option, along with PPV capability.

So this is what keeps showing up on my TV tuner for my PC. I click on one of the airbox stations but nothing comes in. I have always wondered what these channels were ever since February when they showed up.
