Aircheck of the First Day of Robinson & Shannon on WBPM

Thank you disney fanatic. So what do you think of Robinson and Shannon? I think they are going to have a short stay and will move on to a bigger market when a morning show opening opens up.

So I tuned into wbpm for the first time since Jack and Andre are no longer working on what was once my faviorite radio station. I tuned into Robinson and Shannon and I could not believe what I was hearing. This is what replaced Jack and Andre? I dont even know what to say. I really think WBPM needs to call Jack over at 94.3 and Call Andre, wherever he might be, and tell them to come back and come back quick before the station falls right back down to the bottom of the barrel. What is Pamal thinking anyway? Robinson and Shannon have such thick accents from upstate, its hard to listen to. They just cant relate to people in the Hudson Valley and vice versa. Shannon sounds like she belongs on college radio. I dont mean to put anyone down and if Shannon reads this im really sorry. I just thought I would say the truth so you can better yourself. Pamal please, Bring back "The bad boys of radio" J&A.

I listened on their first morning and heard some the pair enjoying an extended, laugh-filled conversation about a couple of elementary school teachers who were caught, by the janitor, having a lesbian fling in a classroom. Have not been back since.

From what I have been able to listen to, I would say Robinson and Shannon are just OK, nothing spectacular. They don’t talk constantly like some morning hosts; mixing in enough music to keep the show from being yet another boring talk fest. However what they do talk about is pretty much standard fair. They read strange, unusual, absurd, weird, and sometimes amusing news stories, probably from the internet. The whole point of course being is to provoke controversy. They invite listeners to call in on these and whatever other topics listeners have on their mind. I think they are trying to relate to the listeners of their new home. They do interact with the audience more than Jack & André did. People like to hear themselves on the radio, but really depends on how they screen the calls, for the good ones, if this is interesting radio. Brian Robinson tries to play that he is sort of bad boy ‘getting into trouble’ (but not really). Ricksterpro said Shannon sounds like she belongs on college radio (ouch). From what I gather she was in administration at WCMF , and has very little on air experience, so this isn’t surprising. However in her defense she is not the typical female co--host who stupidly laughs at whatever her male counterpart says .So far, they are not as good as Jack and André, but the old show is not coming back. So the question is they better or worse than the other not so great morning shows in the Mid Hudson Valley? Robinson was quite popular in Rochester so perhaps the new show will just getting used to. Time will tell. I have to wonder why they would leave Rochester for a much smaller market, Poughkeepsie, where WBPM, Saugerties is a rim shot into the market, not even covering the whole area well, contributing to the station low ratings. Surely it wasn’t for the money Pamal is paying them. Perhaps it’s the prestige of being on a morning show. But I think they had a better chance of being noticed where they were.

ok ... so now we're getting back to the way radio USED to be ... putting listeners on the air. before you know it, we might have an "all-request" show!!! when was the last time you heard one of those?????

"...before you know it, we might have an "all-request" show!!! when was the last time you heard one of those??"

Every Friday morning, 6:30 to 9 on WHVW-950 AM, Poughkeepsie. Curt Roberts' morning drive, all-request, oldies show.

Do you have the aircheck with commercials and newscasts? If so can you please send it to me using dropbox?
No! This is all I got for now, but I removed all of the commercials and newscasts from this aircheck to make the show shortened. Enjoy with no commercials and no newscasts.
