AIRCHECK: Powerline on WXLO New York 9/76

Per Steven's request, here is Powerline, Brother Jon Rivers on 99X New York. I believe this is Sept 76 based on clues in the aircheck. I used to love this show. I disagree with the advice at 18:00 though (dump your girlfriend because she's taller than you??). Check out the WXLO full top of hour ID, which I believe is at midnight.

If anyone else has some Powerline, let me know, I'd love to get a copy.

I've got all the actual station CDs (The CDs they send to the stations) of Powerline from July 2004-June 2005. Not sure if thats of any interest or not.<P ID="signature">______________

Jeremy,

I haven't heard that show since the 70s. How does it compare vs this 1976 show? I imagine it has top 40 music of 2004?

The music is mostly AC/Hot AC of the current. Jon Rivers still hosts it. He gives inspirational/religious messages twice during the show. It runs on stations all over the country usually on Sunday mornings as a public service program.

I myself enjoyed the line about people dressing comfortably in their leisure suits to go to church. Only in the 70s!

Thanks Jeremy,

The show was good. Brother Jon sounds the same which was great, but I really missed the opening/closing song and the sweepers (as well as the 70s music that I was used to). Thanks again!

I laughed there too. I found it also insightful where he mentioned about no need for ties in the office place. I was still in high school so I don't know first hand, but I remember that my grandparents made it seem like that was "hippie" mentality. Of course, we all had on 3-piece suits and ties in the 80s. It's interesting (and great) how much of the business world is business casual (no suits and no ties) today. The only thing I do miss is seeing all the girls in their miniskirts. Oh man, those were the days! Like a kid in a candy store.

None of the old links in this thread work. Anybody know where I can listen and/or download any of the old Powerline shows?
