AIRCHECK: WKBW Christmas Special 12/24/77?

Hi Guys,

Let me take this chance to wish you all a very Happy Holiday from my family to yours. I've gotten to know several of you a lot better over this year and I wanted to just say that you are a great group. Enjoy your holiday and we will be talking soon.

Here is one from my early days of airchecking. I don't know how many of you ever heard WKBW's version of the War of the Worlds, but did you know that they also did one on the Birth of Christ? This aircheck simulates what radio would have been like if it existed in Christ's day, with news reports, music, and even weather reports from the day. Pretty original idea. I always enjoyed listening to this aircheck.

I know it was recorded on Christmas Eve, I think it's 1977. However, it could have been anywhere from 1975-1977. It was DX'ed from NJ, but I'm still amazed at how good a signal I used to get of KB, much better than I do today. And I actually enjoy the couple of fades that do happen in this aircheck as another station (not sure what was on 1520) comes in with Christmas music at some pretty perfect spots during this show.

The show goes 20 minutes, there is 10 minutes of Christmas music at the end, which I left giving you the complete aircheck. Especially for the top of the hour ID near the end of the aircheck. The show started on the 1/2 hour, I want to say 8:30pm, but heck, I'm surprised I've remember all this so well.

Let me know what you think.

Hope you enjoy, and Merry Christmas (or whatever you celebrate),

John
