Two weeks ago, I was working at the Jersey County Fair in Jerseyville, IL. That allowed me to record some airchecks of two stations that I enjoy: WLDS and WEAI Jacksonville, IL.
Both stations are owned by the same company. WLDS operates on 1180 kHz and has a Full-Service AC format. WEAI ("The Eagle") operates on 107.1 MHz and would best be described as Hot AC, but that doesn't tell the entire story. Their playlist spans hits from the 1960's to now, and it doesn't sound corporately picked.
Both stations are live and local. They actually sign-off the air (AM at sunset, FM at midnight). This is what radio should sound like in a small market if you ask me, and it's unfortunate it's such a rarity. Neither stations stream.
The radios I used were all portables, and Jerseyville is a bit out of their range. As such, there is noise in some of the recordings. The files are encoded at either 128/44.1 or 80/44.1 depending on the length of the file. I will add some additional files to this folder in the future, but here are some of what I recorded that week:

WEAI has become difficult to receive in my area in recent years due to interference from another station. But I am now using an amplified antenna, and WEAI's 6 kW signal has been able to make the hop from Jacksonville to St. Louis lately. I have been recording the station from home as well, and will eventually post those files as well.
