""the first concerns among defenders of democracy arose with radio. And that's why the equal time provision and the fairness doctrine and the public interest standard were put in place here. Those protections were almost completely removed during President Reagan's term."

And, in other news, Hugo Chavez shuts down Radio Caracas Television because he doesn't like what they have to say.

ironic, no? :)

Forcing radio stations to put on what they don't want to put on is an abridgement of freedom of
speech.
There is more than enough media out there (TV, radio, Net, newspapers, etc.) so all points of view
can be heard. Especially now with blogs, etc. If liberal radio doesn't succeed because the radio
companies either bungle it or just don't want to put it on, that's the free market at work. It shouldn't
be forced on.
Besides with the liberal slant in various media (especially TV), saying there isn't enough of the Left's
opinions out there is like saying Michael Moore is too thin.
