Al Shade Passes Away at Age 98

Local country music singer, radio host & promoter Al Shade has passed away. Al started in radio at WLBR in Lebanon in 1950 doing 15 minutes a month but worked up to daily country music shows. he was also on WHVR in Hanover and a number of stations. As of today he was still on 5 days a week 11 am & 11 pm recorded from his home studio on WWSM Online. For many years he booked talent for local entertainment parks, and working with Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Lefty Frizzell, Buck Owens and Patsy Cline. HE and his wife Jean Romaine Shade performed together for about 50 years all over the area and ran trips to Nashville and Branson. The last of the old time country music dj’s from before there were full time country format stations.
