Alabama 810

Thanks to Zach and his Alabama Media Page, I found out that WCKA AM 810 in Jacksonville has gained an FM translator on FM 94.3, which supposedly covers Gadsden and Anniston with a good signal. I believe it, because I heard the new FM translator all the way in Hanceville (Southeast Cullman County) on Thursday.

Also, due to there being two FM's with the Alabama slogan, the other being sister station Alabama 100.7 WCKF in Ashland, 810/94.3 have been rebranded "Sweet Home Alabama AM 810, FM 94.3."

Radio-Locator maps appear to show the transmitter on Jacksonville Mountain near the JSU campus. I have heard 94.3 clear as far north as Guntersville and can't help but wonder if this station is broadcasting with a few extra coals in the firebox, if you know what I mean. The station does not sound good in terms of processing — a little muffled and distorted around the edges, but that'll surely be worked out in time.
