Alabama TV question: Mark Prater

Mark Prater returns to Birmingham on CBS 42 starting Monday, June 30. Is he taking over as Chief Meteorologist there, and if so, what happens to David Sawyer?

From MarkPrater.com it says that David Sawyer has left. Doesn't say where he has gone. Mark will be the chief meteorologist! He'll be competing his old boss and good friend James Spann at ABC 33/40. Maybe making a hire like Mark Prater will help CBS 42 to shake the 4th place position.

Give CBS-42 credit for trying. They really have as good of a newscast as NBC-13, except for mornings. And by bringing in Prater, Jim Dunnaway and Cynthia Gould, they've added faces that are familiar to Birmingham TV viewers. And hasn't 42 been ahead of Channel 13 at 5:00?
