Alan Michaels on KWFM

Nobody listens to AM 1450... no matter who's on.

The lack of response to this "major announcement" proves that.

Alan needs to be back on a Big Stick FM frequency in this market where he can have a real impact!

I'm just glad Alan is back!

Every air personality would LOVE to have the kind of staying power he's had there. A pro - in every way!

I agree with Jim, lets face it, Radio is a changing and the salaries have adjusted with the times. Most of us doing this have just plain wanted to get back on the air and have fun. I was working three jobs to stay alive, one of which was in a Call Center and after doing that for 6 months - can't tell you enough how I yearned to be back to full time. Anytime somebody with a passion for doing this, gets back on the air, its a good thing. I am hoping the economy will bring about more On-Air jobs as stations are traded and sold.

Is that the same Jim Conlee that worked with Alan Michaels and Joan Lee at COOL 92.9 many years ago? That was some GREAT OLDIES Station!!! And for Alan, I am looking forward in hearing him back with the oldies again-I do wish it were on a better signal-preferably an FM er. Did I see him recently doing a TV spot for a TV Channel Choice company here in Tucson??????

Where has Alan been hiding out all this time between radio gigs?

Have not seen or heard a peep from him since CC let him and Joan go.

It also seems strange since Alan & Joan were a team, that KOLD did not find a place for them both???

Alan and Joan were hosting an event for the Humane Society a few weeks back...i know this because a friend of mine was there. She told me they both looked good and played off each other very well.
As far as what Alan has been doing, he is a member of the Centurions, some fund raising group that throws a big party,it was held last Saturday night,he was doing his thing on stage and he was right on. (I also think I was a little drunk)

Is this "announcement" really legit?

There's no mention of Alan returning to 1450 in ANY local media (azstarnet, Tucson Weekly, or www.cool1450.com)

Not saying it ain't so, but other than this forum, there is zero chatter. Well at least it woke this board up a bit ;D

Yeah the topic might have woken the post discussion up a bit, and although there have been national reports of Alan's return to COOL-KWFM, I have not seen or heard NOR read anything about his starting soon at 1450. I figured by now there would be some publicity about it since it's going to be good for the station and what listeners it has remaining since the bloodshed last year.

Not even a mention anywhere in the Tucson Weekly... Strange ???

This is the very same Jim Conlee that worked with Alan and Joan from 92 to 95 at 92.9, Cool-FM! As brief as my stay there was, those years were some of the best of my career - loaded with fun! Since then, I've been in Houston, San Antonio, and now Pittsburgh!

At least for the past few weeks we've had a high end again on 1450. Maybe they've done us a favor and turned off the IBOC for good!

Why doesn't Clear Channel clean or try to clean the 1450 am signal? It's seems to be the only place on the dial to hear some "real oldies" of the rock 'n' roll type. and now that Alan is returning to mornings on COOL, it could only help. Am I missing something with the signal problem???

Quick answer for you... Clear Channel does NOT care about AM Cool 1450, period. Furthermore IF they cared, they would have made some effort to announce Alan's return to Cool via other media outlets. Think about it... THEY (CC) own all those EMPTY "WOW" billboards around town. Why not use them to promote their own talent? I take that back, they did put up a board for the return of MOJO on HOT 98.3 somewhere on I-10.

Alan was indeed on the air this morning (6/1) on KWFM ("Cool 1450"). I think he was only on between 6:30 and 9:30. Don't know for sure, but I'm voting voicetracked.

I heard Alan's return to COOL on Tuesday morning-he sounded good but- I seemed to notice he was hesitate to really let himself have the fun he used to have before the "layoff "at CC- I believe he will return to the fun morning host he used to be-he might be rusty- I couldn't tell if he was voicetracked
