Alaska AM DX

NEW!! Pretty decent signal at times from IRIB Iran in Russian on 1449Khz at 1415-1420UTC on Oct 4th! First heard here because KLAM 1450 is usually strong!

Wow, that's your second catch from Iran in the last 3 weeks! Aren't they about 5,500 miles away from you?

Something like that... 1449 is 400kw. my catch a few weeks ago from iran, 1062 was only 50kw.

2RN 1512 and 2NC 1233 (10kw Non Directional) Newcastle, NSW heard this morning slightly after 1600UTC. Heard them both last winter and 2NC even interviewed me on air. Was tuned to 1548 4QD and hit 1512 and thought I heard rumbles of the same overnight show and knew 1512 was 2RN.. so went over to 1233 and had something there as well

Nicely done!

Here's 2NC 1233 from Sun. Oct 10th at 1604UTC:
You hear a guy say "so and so, abc sport".. then the main anchor says "and thats.... ABC News".. and then a few seconds of dead air followed by what can semi clearly be heard as the weather forecast

2NC 1233 was one of the stations that interviewed a certain Alaskan radio nerd on the air last winter

SRG, curious if you’ve done any longwave listening at your Alaska location and heard the Mongolian stations on 164, 209 and 227 kHz?

Fri Oct. 15th

NEW! IRan on 1512 with 50kw. Matched to stream with a jovial sounding talk show of some kind. You'd think the 1 megawatt Saudi Quran outlet would be what I hear on 1512.. nope guess not!

Iran on 1449 with 400kw. Banging signal, but had a het from 250 watt KLAM 1450 Cordova 300 miels away

NEW! Kuwait on 1548

50kw Iran on 1026khz as well. Not new

It never seems to amaze us what you can get from middle of nowhere Alaska. Great going. With those conditions happening in October, what will you get come Christmas time?

1116kHz 4BH Brisbane, QLD, Aus Thu Oct 14 at 1459UTC with fair signal, oldies song into station top of hour id and female newsreader. not the best signal I've had from them by any means, but I've rarely caught a top of hour from many stations. 6.3kw night power at 6850 miles. Audio: http://bit.ly/Aus1116Oct14_1459utc

1314kHz Sky Racing Radio, Wollongong, NSW, Aus Thu Oct 14 at 1620UTC with live horse racing action. Signal and audio are poor and fade down a bit, but no mistaking what this is vs the other 1314 in Australia thats sports TALK. 5kw at 7344 miles. Audio: http://bit.ly/aus1314Oct14_1620utc

1449kHz IRIB World Service, Bandar-e Torkaman, Iran in Turkmen on Sat Oct 16 at 1510UTC. Signal is pretty decent with a bit of a het from KLAM 1450 300 miles away but gets abundantly clear just a little over into the recording. I'm guessing at the rate at which the guy is talking and a few of the words I pick out, this is some kind of religious recitation/speech. 400kw via 5835 mile trans-polar path. Audio: http://bit.ly/Iran1449Oct16_1510utc

1485kHz NRK P1 Longyearbyen, Svalbard, Norway on Sat. Oct 16th at 1501UTC with man and woman talking in Norweigan followed by a song, "Runaway" from The Corrs. 1KW via 2325 mile transpolar path. 1512kHz IRIB Radio Ardabil, Ardabill Iran on Fri Oct 15 at 1611UTC with somewhat lively chat between two men. It was not the 1 megawatt Saudi and I was able to confirm that because the content I heard on 1512 matched the Iran webstream. 50kw via 5320 mile transpolar path. Audio: http://bit.ly/Iran1512Oct15_1611utc
