100.9 decides after doing a "Jack FM" Style format and a Rock format in a market littered with Rock stations, to compete directly with 99.5 as a Hot A/C. It hires known local talent and goes full tilt.
I wouldn't write these guys off so soon...yet. They have their work cut out for them. I think if they can carve a niche for themselves, they may not be able to beat "the 'Q' twins", but they can give them a run for the money.
560 goes dark, again. No one misses it, from it's most recent incarnation.
Call me someone who lives in the past too much, but I think should this station have a future, it probably should be as a community-oriented radio station which could be run by a college or a combination of colleges and high schools in the area. For income, I might suggest a 'hybrid-revenue' model in which the station survives on both advertisement and private donations.
There is a station in southeastern Pennsylvania, WBZH Pottstown which runs a free-form and talk format ans is showing some promise.
