Albany Radio, Where Are They Now?

Camco said:
Hi Guys,

I remember a bunch of the names that have come up. I was Bill Bailey on WALG in 1976 then came back to WQDE in 1978.

I thought the owner at that time was a guy from Louisiana, I remember his teenage son being a wise-butt...

I've been working the last five years in the Dothan market as Wild Bill...

I always wondered what happened to the "Night Hawk" Craig ? And Beau somebody that went out to Wyoming...

Boy are the cobwebs showing.

Take care,
Bill Camarata "[email protected]"

I came to WQDE after you. The Coon-Ass was David McGriff and his wife Virgey. It was her money that bought the station, and she made it quite clear to Dave when she threw him out of the house and Dave lived in a travel trailer on the property. The boy was a little jerk, last name Landry...Thought he was going to be a great radio guy, until Dave fired him as PD and I got the call. Beau Stone and I did mornings together for awhile, then things changed. I went to KRBE in Houston and Stone went, well, nowhere.

Beau had a pretty good radio voice as I recall. Did a show on WWCW sponsored by "Sound City" if you remember that gig. I did the recordings for the show.

Hadn't heard that name in years. I worked with Dan in Macon in the 60s for a short while, but don't know what became of him. Is that the same Dan Cobble? (Theres probably only one.)

I worked with Matt back in 2010. Around Christmas that year, he had a blowup and quit. He hasn't been seen since. He was the PD of WALG at the time. Dottie still does work with Clear Channel from the last I heard, but rarely on-air. Her son, Rabb works at WNUQ.

Matt currently works for the City of Albany and loves it.

Dottie works for the Lee County School System. Rab is no longer with Cumulus as he has left for college to pursue acting in their theater program.

Last I heard from Claire she was running her own interior design business in Albany.
