It's a shame that broadcasters have gotten to cater strictly to the 25 to 54 demographic and to the most shallow listening preferences out there! The days of four figure playlists seem to be a thing of the past, especially on major signal FMs. I think an effort has been made with the adult hit-variety format, but this only goes so far.Osama said:

I have to say it but beggars can't be choosers, and that applies to radio as well as anything else. Whenever you have a format that falls out of the mainstream cacophony of formats (which Magic was/is), broadcasters are going to be less likely to take a chance on that format. If a broadcaster is willing to exile that format to a subordinate facility, you might want to consider yourself lucky that it isn't gone altogether!
Once again, look at the ups: you can get 590 for most, if not all the way to both Poughkeepsie and Utica during the day; so this could make those trips on I-90 and I-87 a little more pleasant.
You may want to get your car radio checked out because you may have a loose connection someplace. It could be the antenna or something else.Seltzer said:
One thing I find about AM car radios is that the computers that control the car make a lot of "hash". And it gets worse as the car ages. The reason for this is the computers are ususally shielded but as the car ages the places where the shield is fastened become oxidized, causing the shield to become a transmitting antenna of this interference. If one could take the cover off, and clean these points with fine grade emery paper, it might help.

Just curious...Does anyone own a new car with one of these new tiny antennas that are located over the rear top of the car. Some of them appear to be 1.5 to 2 inches long. I can't imagine that they can perform very well. Any reviews????
Voice Track: I think you are seeing ON-Star antennas. C.Spence, I would sooner think you are picking up outside interference. The computer noise is generally steady. Outside interference come from many sources; breaks in the CATV, neon signs, cash registers in businesses, and if you are close enough, computer in homes and businesses, WIFI sometimes causes problems.
