Albany Station shuts off it's analog

WYPX Channel 55 the ION station out of Amsterdam serving the Albany area has shut off its analog transmission and is now on it's digital signal of channel 50.

Correct. Like other stations on channel 54, 55 and 56, WYPX requested to shut off early so that Qualcomm can use the spectrum for its MediaFLO service. The same has occurred with WLNY 55 Riverhead (New York) NY, KLDT 55 Lake Dallas (Dallas) TX, WACX 55 Leesburg (Orlando) FL, and KWDK 56 Seattle WA. Also, WTBY 54 Poughkeepsie (New York) NY has requested to shut off early, but I don't know if that has been granted.

WOLF won't be able to shut down analog early because they're a top-four station in their market. All of the stations allowed to shut off analog early have been independent and specialty stations, and low-rated: WYPX (Ion), WLNY (Ind), KLDT (Gems/infomercials), WACX (Ind/Christian), and KWDK (Daystar). WTBY is TBN.
