Albany tv Dutchess County

I visited a family member in Poughkeepsie recently and while I was watching tv at the persons home I noticed that in the cable lineup they had WTEN of Albany and another Albany station that I don't remember now As well as all of the NYC stations.

I thought Dutchess County was in the NYC DMA. What are Albany stations doing there?

WXXA or WRGB, maybe? Those are the two that came to mind... wonder if Albany TV stations on Kingston/Poughkeepsie cable could be due to being able to receive them OTA from that area :)

The Orangeburg TWC system used to carry WYOU out of Scranton up until recently.

They probably have significantly viewed status in that area. Given the relatively remote location of the Kingston area (in particular), viewers would have historically watched stations from both markets depending on where they lived. Just because you're in one market doesn't necessarily mean that you are precluded from being offered channels from a nearby adjacent market.
