$ale opening question

Something I'd like to know about the opening of Jim Perry's $ale: why was it that in the earliest shows, the $ale title wiped in with a counterclockwise wipe (this was during the brief run of Sally Julian as the hostess, and was also how each show ended), before giving way to the longer-lived format of the $ in $ale spinning in, and then ale of the and Century swooping in from left and right respectively to complete the title?

Maybe the producers weren't that satisfied with the animated opening graphics and changed them to something they liked better.

That's kind of what I was thinking.

I've assumed that either: (a.) it would've been too expensive to do that type of animation for a brand-new show; or (b.) it would've been too technically challenging to do such animation quickly. Remember that the Reg Grundy Productions ID was also different when it first started (i.e., no rotating metallic "RG").

So I guess what you're saying is, the counterclockwise wipe of the early shows was used for those shows so that the newer title animation could have time to be developed? That's how I read your response. (By the way, I noticed a mistake in my OP: ale of the came from the right, and Century came from the left.) And yes, I recall seeing both versions of that RG ID (the rotating one, and this one that came from beyond the screen).
