Alec Baldwin Arrested, Faces Assault Charges

https://tvnewscheck.com/article/more-news/224834/alec-baldwin-arrested-faces-assault-charges/

Baldwin punched another man over a parking spot dispute. I know in recent years Alec Baldwin was a Trump impersonator on SNL but who will take his spot.

NEW YORK (AP) — Alec Baldwin was arrested Friday after allegedly punching a man in the face during a dispute over a parking spot outside his New York City home, authorities said.

Police said the actor claimed he had a family member holding the spot for him as he attempted to park his black Cadillac Escalade around 1:30 p.m. when a man driving a black Saab station wagon pulled up and took it.

Ha! Who will take his parking 'spot' or his 'spot' on SNL? I'm guessing that Baldwin can afford to make bail, so it's not like he can't appear on SNL

I don't watch SNL regularly, but from what I've read - there may be less interest from the producers in continuing that Trump cold open as often...the bit is probably wearing a bit thin. Also, from what Baldwin as said, he will likely not be appearing on SNL as often this year, regardless.

Does this affect his ABC talk show? Though the ratings for all viewers couldn't be much worse.

I hope he appears as Trump after the midterms. Either way (Democrats taking Congress, Republicans staying in control) it should be funny.

Meh. I think Baldwin is a very good actor...maybe not always a good person. And nobody hates the orange narcissistic lying sociopath more than I do. Er...meaning Trump. But IMO, those Trump cold-opens are getting stale.

Even though I don't watch more than probably once a month, I've noticed that after a few good years of tight writing, SNL seems to be falling back into the habit of doing sketches that drag on forever, stop being funny about half way through, and rely on lazy repetitive tropes.

IMO, the best cold open of the last year or so was when Will Ferrell appeared as George W. Bush, addressing the sudden nostalgia people were feeling for him because...as bad as he was...he wasn't Trump:

ABC has moved Alec Baldwins show to Saturdays starting on December 8th. I bet Alec Baldwin's show gets his show on ABC cancelled though. Its simply because Baldwin is more known for his Trump impersonation segments on SNL.

Like him or not, Baldwin is MOST well known for being a very busy and versatile actor in both comedic and dramatic roles - in both theatrical films and TV. He's also done a number of other interesting things, including hosting the New York Philharmonic performances on NPR, and....hosting the revival of The Match Game, of all things. The Trump thing is only a minor footnote in a brilliant career.

The fact that ABC has moved his show to Saturday nights...primarily the home of prime-time reruns, does not bode well for its future, but Baldwin hardly needs that show, or his Trump impressions - to keep his career moving.
