Alex Gaudino "I'm in Love"

Now, this song has been out for quite some time and while it dropped from #1 for a couple of weeks (bumped by Rihanna's "Only Girl in the World"), it jumped back up to #1. Why haven't Rhythmic or Top 40 stations picked this song up yet?

Because CHR programmers live and die by PPM. They will ask "what's the story with this song", "who's playing it", "what are sales like" and "is it the sound I need for my station". There is very little 'new' music on the radio from unproven artists lately. Just the nature of the radio business. It takes 'starter' stations like KVBE to beat the song to death in Las Vegas just to get the song to show up in a mixshow across town.
