Anyone who heard WBBF in the 60's, 70's heard the booming voice of Alex Lamutis on the news. He also for a time hosted The WBBF All Family First Fourty countdown on Saturdays from 10-3. Word is he passed away on August 11th at 92. Having said this a million times, I was lucky enough to hang out at the Clinton Avenue blockhouse on weekends in 60, 61, 62 and Alex was one of the good guys who seemed to understand my fascination with the business. He was always cordial and kind and wanted to be sure I knew who his family was when they visited. I was also working at 'BBF the night he was moved to the night shift. He lamented "looks like it's my time to go". He left quietly. I'm glad he had a very long life, and will always remember that voice.
