Alex McNeil - Lost & Found WMBR

Varulven said:
What a treat to be driving around yesterday and hearing "You Only Live Twice" by Nancy Sinatra. Alex is one of the better DJs on the air in this city. Today he's got P.F. Sloan - who I haven't seen in 18 years! Wow.
P.F. is the guitarist who does the intro to "California Dreamin'" (not Glen Campbell as rumor has had it for years)

P.F. Sloan has much more notable credits than that guitar lick. He wrote a number of major (and minor) mid-60's hits for other artists including "Eve Of Destruction" (Barry McGuire), "Secret Agent Man" (Johnny Rivers), "Where Were You When I Needed You" and "Things I Should Have Said" (both by the Grass Roots), "A Must To Avoid" (Herman's Hermits), "Can I Get To Know You Better" and "You, Baby" (both by The Turtles), and many, many more.

The interview that Alex will be airing beginning at around 12:15 this afternoon on WMBR's "Lost & Found" 60's/70's show was pre-recorded by phone last weekend. It will be broken into segments interspersed with examples of P.F. Sloan's music, both his own and the hit covers of his songs. Sloan is making his first area appearance here since 1968 at Club Passim in Cambridge this Saturday night.

Not only that, Eli, I saw a great writer mention him on a Barnes & Noble site:

and you must know Jimmy Webb wrote a song about him:

"Don't sing this song...it belongs to P.F. Sloan...from now on." Enter harmonica.
