Alex Trebek has laryngitis

If only they had stopped taping for this season with last week's episodes. This is the time of year when they rerun tournaments. But because they didn't, we get a unique opportunity. At the beginning of each episode after we hear him talk the way he is actually talking, it says on screen he re-recorded everything when he got better.

I wouldn't have been able to stand hearing him talk like that for the whole episode.

And his lips move perfectly when we can see him.
 
I noticed on Thursday's show that he didn't re-record the comments he made after the last clue before the second commercial. He'd talked a lot more in Thursday's show than he had the rest of the week, and his voice sounded even worse than it had at the beginning of Monday's episode. I believe the show tapes about two months prior to air date, so with luck, tonight's season finale will be the last time AT has to croak his way through a show.
 
I figured it was time for reruns. I figured out how to tape this show on my new DVR just in time to not even watch.

I did notice his actual voice more last night. In fact, whenever they showed him.
