ALEX TREBEK IS 71, WHO COULD FILL HIS SHOES ?

OK, no one said it so I will. :p

How about someone who doesn't talk to the contestants like they're idiots for not knowing an answer (question, whatever) especially if it's "What is the Crimean war? Who is George Bernard Shaw? What is 1215?". And someone who doesn't mock someone's wrong answer "No, that's Illinois, this is Wisconsin."

IOW someone who isn't condescending. :-*

My top 3

1. Marc Summers-having hosted History IQ and The Nova Quiz, he can handle a serious quizzes
2. Jeff Probst
3. Tim Brando-When Pat Sajak left the daytime version of Wheel, he was a filing to succeed him. But Rolf Bnirschke got the job.

I said this before, but I think it bears repeating.

Trebek has accomplished something on a day-to-day basis, at 71 no less, that even Art Fleming could not do very often: "clear the board." And in Fleming's day, there was less commercial time! I have seen YouTube clips of the Fleming version, and I will admit, the clues were much longer on the board; but also Fleming had this knack for adding conversation (especially ribbing Don Pardo) during the game, that I am not sure if the contestants cared to hear, when clues were still remaining.

Whoever takes over, if that were to happen, will have to be brisk, and keep the game moving. No easy trick....I sure couldn't do it.

Definitely not Bob Newhart. :D
