I was just remembering today how Alice used to have much more of a musical edge and would throw in some random, deeper new wave 80s tracks from time to time. Who was programming it? Back in that era, I never could have imagined hearing Taylor Swift on 97.3. Still like the station, but their musical "golden age" seems to be the first couple of years.

When they first signed on, they even played "The Macarena"

But of course back then their CBS stablemates Live 105 weren't playing anywhere near as much "classic alternative" as they are now. Alice was "the girl station" and Live 105 was "the boy station" and never the twain shall meet.

It seems that Alice @ 97.3 sounds like more of Hot AC station than Modern AC. I don't think Modern AC stations will touch on Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, or some of Kelly Clarkston's music.
