ALICE & THE WOLF.....HERE'S YOUR WAKE-UP CALL!

Clear Channel has given you a free pass here. Come at KOIT (96.5 Boring FM) and pick up all the KKSF listeners and a bunch of KOIT's!

Smooth AC/with some Jazz thrown in.....SMOOTH 95.7 or 97.3 SMOOTH FM.

It's right there for ya!

As I said in the other thread ... KBLX can easily pick up the slack here without a big switch, just some tweaks, and without alienating the audience they already have. Nobody's gonna switch to "smooth jazz", sadly.

Mike-

KBLX skews to a different demo, then would a station directly competing with KOIT. KBLX wouldn't play a random Sinatra tune or a random Bee Gees tune.

Although, it couldn't be more boring, KOIT consistently books huge numbers and it hits the magic demos advertisers love!

I'm talking about a hipper, smoother AC with a slight Jazz tinge....Something you could keep on all day in the office and almost everyone would like. Not decidedly R & B and not decidedly AC. A format right in between and I think you'd get all the KKSF'ers and take a large chunk of KOIT listeners!

There's a station right up the road in Santa Rosa doing it...KJZY/93.7. And it sounds great!

I disagree about KJZY being a perfect fit for the general Bay Area. It does ok up there, but I think that format skews much older demo-wise and would not be as compelling as either the WOLF or ALICE are. Both stations have been doing much better over the last quarter. By comparision, KKSF was barely top 20 25-54...and not gaining any momentum. I actually think morphing KBLX could be the answer...especially if you could broaden the audience and hopefully access a few more meters. It would take marketing support and based on looking at a monitor of KJZY, you might be able to do something closer to that...
