Alicia B formerly of Free FM

Does anyone know if Joe Corrao is still with the station? I tried listening but I don't like it. Just because they're playing Hip Hop doesn't mean we don't need our morning Mojo!

Personally, I think that both Alicia B and the Mojo are very good at doing the traffic. IMO, they're the only people in the valley that at least have some personality, rather than just READING the traffic (ie. all metro people). If any two people could adapt to what's going on over at 101.5, it would be these two. The only other person who migt be as enjoyable to listen to reading the traffic, would be the guy on 104.7 in the mornings, you can't understand a word he says, but it's damn funny.

As far as where Mojo will end up, I wouldn't be surprised to see him stay within the CBS radio cluster and end up doing afternoons at another station. Possibly KOOL, since KMLE is already set with that.

Thank u for your comments Joe and Alicia. ;D

LOL! If you knew anything about Joe you'd know that if he ever did post on this board he'd use his real name, not a screen name...not to mention he's more a "Jimmy Buffet" than a "Sid and Nanci" kinda guy. :D

And speaking of traffic-and-weather-together...a closed circuit for KT'R
PD Russ: during the live off-peak traffic/WX inserts, why doesn't
Bruce/Gary/et al give the current temperature? If this keeps up I'll be
forced to give you the very-undesired Royal Norman Canned Weather Award. ::)

I've been paying more attention to this and O.F. is right: they never mention the current temperature! I've always assumed these reports were live (some of them are because they will 'interact' with some hosts) but why not tell us the temp? Even if the report is canned for a few segments, who cares about the difference between 110 and 115 degrees?

I hear them say the current temperature almost every report, by both the news and traffic reporters. Maybe this is only a 'constant' on the weekends. But I may have to agree, not sure I care much about the difference between 115 and 112.

The lack of giving the current temp is noted regularly during
the last "off-peak" traffic/WX at the end of the Snoozeroom,
prior to Deputy Dan resuming in the Ded 'n' Jamie Show.

WOW its amazing to me how everyone on this site gets sooooo worked up about traffic.... if you have a daily route then you should have a GENERAL idea of how busy the traffic will be right? ...especially if your driving during the busiest times of the day and at drive times then obviously its gonna be busy. As far as reporters go, I have my favorites and my not so favorites. I definately think Dena and Staci at Camel do a great job..I like the MOJO character and Jason at KNIX does ok. but of course DD at KTAR is the best. I do think its wierd to use different names for the same person, whats the point??? use a different reporter then, god knows there are plenty of people that can DO a traffic report...but there are good/great and excellent reporters, this valley only has a FEW. Lauren and Alicia dont sound like the same person to me.

Well, if your commute is to/from the West Valley. ;)

I'll take the traffic twins on 55/FYI. Unfortunately, KFYI's reports
do not air often enough during drive time hours, and it also means
waiting for Jacobs to shut up as he regularly goes through the
traffic/canned WX/stopset stop sign before tossing.

Everyone? So worked up? The biggest topic on the Phoenix board lately has been 101.5 JAMZ. Before that it was McMahon, Ankarlo, Young, Colon Blow, and KAZG.

Freeways: Yes, surface streets, no. I don't have to drive on a freeway to/from work but if there is an accident I want to know so I can make a detour.

And I might be Lt. Markinson ;)

Kaffee: Did you talk to your friend at the NIS?
Lt. Weinberg: Yeah, he said if Markinson doesn't want to be found, we're not gonna find him. He said I could be Markinson and you wouldn't even know.
Kaffee: Are you Markinson?
Lt. Weinberg: No.
Kaffee: I'm not Markinson... that's two.

first, i think it's strange that ktar shares traffic reporters with every other station in town.

second, it's funny to hear the metro traffic reporters on ktar using fake names after hearing them on other stations just minutes before, using the name they've been using for years.
Actually, that practice is very, very common.

It would seem that the Traffic Reporters -the lucky ones, I guess -apply for a job and egt themselves hired on to those traffic stations who will have them (If you are ever in the LA Market, just check out Mike Nolan; you can hear him on KOST.....and KFI.......and KRLA, I believe...and so on and so forth.

I found out that they pretty much work nonstop -with carefully structured and timed traffic reports -from about 5 in the morning to, I'd guess, sometime around noon....when somebody else does the dance.

Mike Nolan is not on KRLA. He's pretty decent, but Rick Abell at Metro in Cleveland was one of the best in recent memory. And from a nothing market.

The past four or five weekdays, Steve Ludwig had been doing the
traffic/WX spot on Snooze 92/3 KT'R-FM No Static At All between
the Snoozeroom and Ded 'N' Jamie...and he gave the current temp
every day.

Today it was Gary Bruce (Bruce Gary?) again, and we were again
rendered temp-less. :(

There really isn't much of a mystery here...you use a name the station finds acceptable. I worked at Metro for over 8 years and in that time I was mostly Jack Green. I used it on KFYI, KJZZ. Mega and some others I can't really remember. I was doing anywhere between 3 and 5 stations at a time, they don't want personality at most places...give us the traffic and get off of my station.

Now that I'm teaching middle school, they call me MR. GREEEN.

I do want to appologize for being Fred Zeppelin on KSLX. They made me do it! Honest!
