Frequent lurker, occasional poster here. I think I’ve found replacement sites for all the Mediabase charts, but there’s one piece that I still haven’t found a replacement for.

Is there an alternate way to view the top 50 songs for individual stations as there currently is on AA? I’m not talking about “What Song Was That” where each song is listed at the time played. I mean the station’s entire top 50 for the week ranked by spins (or something similar). There are a couple stations I follow that frequently program songs off the charts, but they don’t list their top songs on their websites or TuneGenie. I’m hoping I’ll still be able to get that info if possible.

For the record, I worked in radio for a number of years, but left the industry about eight years ago. Once a radio geek, always a radio geek, though, and I still look at the charts and certain station data to keep up on new music. But if it requires a subscription, it’s probably not worth the money for my purposes, and my role in the industry was never prominent enough that I could get emeritus credentials based solely on clout.

Joel Denver announces that AllAccess will continue some limited service after August 16:

This includes the Mediabase airplay charts and downloads of new songs

So AllAccess continues as an industry resource for things like charts, ratings and music downloads but without the news and columns. It looks like most of the staff will still be out which is a shame, but it's still better than its complete closure.

I thought the initial shutdown announcement made AllAccess an obvious target for acquisition by one of its rivals. Perhaps it still is, but more valuable in this form.

As time has passed, it’s become clear that while Cool New Music is still online it’s not being maintained. Old songs aren’t being removed; anything submitted to CNM after August 16th still has the “new” tag even if it’s well over a month old.

I know Joel Denver really wanted to get out of the business but he’s and what’s left of AA seem resolutely determined to do nothing to keep the site usable long term for the radio stations who rely on it. Denver just spends all day yelling about politics on Twitter; surely he could spend a half hour deleting or removing NEW tags from songs himself instead, couldn’t he?

I'm grateful that he's maintaining as much of the site as he is -- AA is still the best place for getting Mediabase data in the form of format charts of currents, format charts of recurrents, most played currents/recurrents for individual stations, etc for those who do not subscribe to Mediabase. As such, I'd say that Joel Denver is still providing a valuable service and deserves credit for doing so, not complaints. For that matter, it does appear that the Cool New Music is getting at least some updates, so again I think that this is an instance where it makes sense to appreciate what he is doing instead of complaining.

As for any political rants on Xwitter, that's easy enough to ignore.

Mediabase has acquired the music distribution business unit from AllAccess:

It will be interesting to see how they handle this. Because Mediabase subscribers have always been able to download new music at the MB site. I get the impression that they are buying the AA site, so current AA subscribers will be able to continue to get new music there.

From what I can tell, they are in the process of shifting ownership of the AllAccess.com site right now. They're likely moving it to the Mediabase server. Then we will see if there is a new layout for the site and other changed.

And good for finding the Christian AC charts for different stations and the national chart for it too.

Visitors to All Access will now see a different appearance. The original logo has been replaced by a more generic typeface. The links to former features and the twitter site have been removed. It is, as it was described, a more bare bones All Access.

As a reminder, site founder Joel Denver sold the site to Mediabase in October.
