All Access via Save WRKO: Humiliated Howie returning to WRKO

I actually miss hearing Max Robbins on Mondays. There's been a lot of news on the TV front, including the writers' strike. Will there be a "Daily Show" tonight? Robbins recently lost his job at 'Broadcast & Cable' so I imagine that the stipend he was receving from WRKO helped (along with the graft).

Yes, and even in defeat Maloney managed to get it wrong, keeping his record perfect, and maintaining his amateur standing.

If this is true, Howie is going to look very foolish, in the same way that Dennis & Callahan were recently humiliated into returning to WEEI.

Wrong. D&C played it smart, kept their mouths shut, and didn't try to turn it into a public grudge match. It was all about money, just like with Carr, except that D&C didn't try to pretend it was anything else. They came back with nary a bump.

If he really needs to be back on the air this badly, it will be without the respect of his audience, which Carr never reached out to during his legal battle.

Translation : 'How could you try to salvage your career when it means making me look foolish, and after all these months of me carrying water for you.' Yes, Brian, you've been had, but you wanted to 'be had'. Must be a bummer to realize that you were the last person to figure out that it was about the money.

Where's your backbone, Howie? Was it extracted by Empress Kahn?

Julie? That incompetent empty skirt who was 'out the door' just weeks ago, around the time that WRKO was about to be turned into a Tastee Freeze? That Empress, and what about her clueless coffee runner, who Howie was going to hand their collective heads? I guess we'll have to wait for more 'insider' information on that one.

As for Entercom, it would mean the Evil Empire wins another battle, but the company is sure to lose the war. After losing the battle to purchase ABC Radio to Citadel, the company has since been yesterday's news.

Lose what war? Go out of business? Rehire Maloney? No longer be 'news' on SaveWRKO, where it's been news everyday?
Somehow, I don't think the company is a write-off yet.

He'll keep SaveWRKO up as long as the Felon is there.

Toad Feinbore is on again today but who knows for how much longer.

>> which Carr never reached out to during his legal battle.

Howie wisely kept his lawyers' advice to dummy up, though any pertinent info could always be
passed along to his secretary, Jessica.

This must have been a shock to Maloney. He didn't have time for the bet hedging post like the one he got in under the wire before D and C came back. I guess Howie's distaste for missed paychecks was even greater than we imagined, otherwise how could this Man of Principle, Defender of the Downtrodden, Slayer of Empresses return to dastardly, evil WRKO.

Maybe T.S. Bench, Stocky, myself and everyone else who saw this coming should start our own blog, "IToldYouSo.com", "HowieIsDisengenuous.com" or maybe "SaveBrian.com"...something like that.

So let's review - this was never about co-existing with Finneran, it was never about an FM signal, morning drive, hatred for Entercom, paper jails, indentured servitude, Julie, Jason or any of the other red herrings thrown out on the red leaning blog with the blue background.

And what about lazy Jessica Heslam and her article last week with Brian's "Expert Analysis"? Wrong, wrong and wrong again, presuming that this story is true. Now she faces a real dilemma. Does she take straight dictation from Howie and just parrot his spin, or does she call in "Brian Maloney, Radio Consultant" (no relation to "Fred Garvin, Male Prostitute") for an unbiased opinion like, "Howie had no choice but to go back. He doesn't want to be there, but Entercom left him no choice. I think they may have his daughters locked in Julie Kahn's basement. Clearly his show will not be what it once was, as his listeners have lost respect for him. Entercom desperately needed to bring him back since everything else on WRKO is an abject failure. And by the way, Jason Wolfe is the real mastermind behind 9/11"

He'll keep SaveWRKO up

Well, it's not like he has a lot else to do. And, like a million monkies, if he types often enough, for long enough, he may get something right. The problem is, like the monkies, he may have to live a million years.

as long as the Felon is there.

Take this in the spirit it is intended. Using the Maloney buzzwords like Felon just identifies you as a lightweight.
Have you ever wondered why making up derogatory monikers like Felon, Empress, Coffee Boy, is what Maloney specializes in, while his 'inside sources' seem to be remarkably out of the loop when it comes to reality-based information and his pet theories go down in flames on a daily basis?

Toad Feinbore is on again today

Ahhhh, the things you learn at the knee of the master stay with you for a long time. I guess this must be a reference to Feinburg 'toadying' up to Empress Kahn and promising to go easy on Patrick as she put her plan to turn WRKO into a local incarnation of Air America into operation. Then Feinburg screws the pooch by devoting his shows to non-stop Patrick bashing. Of course, even Maloney isn't buying his own theory on that anymore, and now just forgets he ever mentioned it. Perhaps you should, too.

How'd that work out for him? Unfortunately, he shut up after the damage was done to his ego and his reputation.
And what 'pertinent' info did you get from Haslem? There was only one piece of 'pertinent' information, the existence of the salary match provision in his contract. NOTHING else mattered, nothing. And you learned of that only when it reached up and bit Carr on the butt. You weren't getting pertinent info from Haslem, you were getting propaganda and disingenuous BS that Carr wanted you to think was pertinent. And Maloney, and his pen pals, lapped it up. Carr, and Haslem, certainly knew their audience. And that isn't meant as a compliment.

But, since you mentioned it, just what, exactly, does Carr 'reaching out' to his audience actually mean? Have them picket the courthouse? Public acclamation of 'Justice for Howie !!!" (you may want to ask Mike Nifong about the wisdom of playing to the crowd.) Nasty letters to the editor? Telling WRKO that you're never going to listen to his show again, unless they let him go to the competition. Asking them to take up a collection for 3 million bucks so he could sit out the next five years in dignity?

I'm sure Maloney has no idea. Do you? And, if so, what?

TSB

Jazus, spell check anyone? Not once but twice. Of right, there's a writer's strike.

I was thrilled when I heard this news earlier today. I assume this means he'll drop the suit, officially stopping the madness. Our long regional nightmare is over. ;)

Of crap, I forgot the rule about forming the plural of a word which ends with a "y" that is preceded by a vowel. My bad.
Oh course, I think you'd agree that it would also be nice to have a 'punctuation checker' for possessive nouns ending in 's'.

By coincidence, my son happens to be a member of the WGA. I e-mailed him asking what connection the strike had with this board in general and my spelling in particular. He replied that he had no idea, and that it would remain just another of life's mysterys.

I'm just having a little fun with nicknames (Toad, etc.)

I heard a clip of the picketing writers: "What do we want?" "A contract"
"When do we want it?" "Now"
And I thought, geez, they're writers, surely they can think up something a bit more creative.
Right up there with the ol' reliable "Racist, sexist, anti-gay, (politician) go away".
C'mon, think up some new chants.

>>lightweight
You haven't seen me on a scale.

>>propaganda
Yes, I admit so.

"Oh course, I think you'd agree that it would also be nice to have a 'punctuation checker' for possessive nouns ending in 's'."

Fortunately, I do know. The possessive contraction comes from, in this case, the phrase-the writer, his strike. The contraction is the strung together sound. OF course I meant the plural so you are correct. The writers' strike.
