All Access is reporting Randy Michaels has broken off talks with Inner City Broadcasting and WLIB's future is "uncertain." Allen Sniffen says scuttlebutt is either real oldies or talk on WLIB once AAR vacates. Others are speculating that ICBC could pick up Radio One's syndicated Urban Talk line-up (the Rev Al Sharpton, et al).
Meanwhile, over at WWRL 1600, the website mentions the following hosts coming as of Friday, September 1st:
Al Franken
Randi Rhodes
Sam Seder
Mike Malloy (bye, bye Satellite Sisters)
And, it looks like a big adios to Jerry, Jerry! And apparently to Alan Colmes, as well (unless he gets moved to overnights on delay).
The Sam Greenfield-Armstrong Williams local morning show will continue. No word on who gets the late morning slot, but apparently no AAR before noon.
The releases from AAR and WWRL make this deal seem like less than a straight LMA, possibly more than a straight-barter syndication/affiliation agreement. It looks like Access 1 won't be a completely absentee-landlord like ICBC has been. It will be interesting to see what happens with local sales, news and traffic under the new deal.
