All Christmas in Louisiana

Since it's the holidays and I got the idea off another board, let's post who flips Christmas this year.

WCDV 103.3 (sunny 103)Hammond/Baton Rouge has already flipped at the beginning of November
KRVE 96.1 (96.1 the river) Brusley/baton Rouge apparently flipped today
KVKI 96.5 Shreveport apparently flipped also (as reported by yes.com playlist tracking)
KQIS 102.1 Basile/Lafayette is flipped

Up for Friday from what I see:
WLMG 101.9 New Orleans has announced the flip for tommorrow

Waiting on Lake Charles,Monroe, and Alexandria (as well as any smaller market stations to flip)

RFLA

what about 96.7 thibodoux? is it flipping this year? also didnt KTDY also flip last year?
maybe 106.1 new orleans?

Smashed
Thats a tough one to call, since KYMO just went oldies. They might fore-go christmas music to further build and take listenership from KTIB, but I could be wrong.

KTDY went all Christmas just for the 24th and 25th last year, with Holiday songs lightly interspersed into regular music after Thanksgiving. Presume they'll do the same this year.

With KMYO picking up the syndicated "Classic Top 40" syndie feed, I'd imagine that only if the syndicate goes all Christmas, they will. Last night. Though, last night, I heard them sets of Christmas music (3-in-a-row) in regular music sets.

In New Orleans, I can't remember if WLMG went all-Christmas or not. I seem to recall WMTI being the Holiday Station in New Orleans.

I think they will have christmas songs on KMYO, (If they are sat fed, then they are VTed apparently..as an IDs and local events happen during afternoon weekdays that sound pretty live than canned..they may do like some and go some live, the rest canned) but they are still trying to build an image on the bayou and unlike the soft rock, this one they are spending some money on to promote.... So I think no all season long Christmas song marathons (that and they used it as a stunt to go more golden a/c 2006-2007)

Country KKND 106.7 New Orleans says they are running country christmas songs all weekend long this weekend. My opinion is for their numbers to come up, maybe flipping all country christmas may be the way to go (as country is seen as some as a alternative to a/c radio nowadays)

The oldies on KTIB I think was more filler material for when no news was on... They are trying to take it more talk currently. I do think however that Gap gave sunburst a good idea with the oldies though... Unscientific poll (my observations by listening) seems that people are tuning into 96.7 more...

speaking of filler I noticed WODT is playing music to fill in comerical gaps. Either CC's sales are having trouble selling air time or not promoting the station to its full extent. Mabye a format change in its near future???
I know it is not part of the topic, but I thought I throw it out before I forget.

CC used to package WODT and 99.5 with other stations to increase the amount of spots on the stations. WODT and 99.5 have a small handful of advertisers that actually buy them and don't buy the package, and there is a lot of trade on both.

CC has too many stations to force people to sell stations that have no ratings.

WODT also uses the music to fill for the top-of-the-hour news window.

Ixnay on a ipflay...

Performing within aspiration..."it is what it is"...national sports talk, local spots, some cross-promoting, some (hopefully) tolerable muz to fill network breaks...not consciously trying to launch "Jack AM"

Lots of babes on the website... ::)

If that is the case, CC needs to do something about the volume.on 'ODT. Back to the main topic; KMYO(formerly KBZZ?KFXY) was all X-mass last night.

Just call me old fashioned, i start Christmas music about 2 wks before Christmas.i know it's can be a good ratings getter, i think most stations do it for that reason and to get more advertising from the merchants, most of whom play the station on overhead speakers, which i think is a violation of Ascap, BMI, sesac.Last i read a merchant could have a radio, say behind a counter, but not piped thru overhead speakers.Hate to be a scrooge...and i love the station here that does it, i easily pick up alot of their listeners. Most folks just get tired of xmas repeats..as always IMHO
