...coming today to a Big station near you.

shhhh, don't tell anyone... it's a secret.

It's B-101, I was driving in the Swarthmore area loast weekend and heard all about it!!! They just join the AC all XMAS bandwagon!!! It seems everyone is doing it that is AC and WLTW-FM is going all XMAS on Thanksgiving and so is Magic93, I know because my friends have told me. No different from all the other AC's in the country. AC's now position themselves as the holly jolly, love the holidays radio!!!

Hey my friends get to join me and my other friends at U of D, that have had the all XMAS party with The Rose!!!

Makes sense.

And then tonight they'll probably air the Delilah Christmas Permiere Show. I was in NC last night, and Sunny 93.9 out of Raleigh, had switched to all Christmas as of 11/1. And Delilah had a holiday season premiere for the stations that switched with Wyonna Judd.

Re: All Christmas...99.5

The first 'B' to flip to Christmas music was WJBR early Saturday morning. Apparently B101 flipped mid-morning, maybe earlier than they expected to as a counter-measure.

Michael Klein told us on last night's Radio Racket that B-101 was flipping Wed. night. We then looked at WJBR's website during the show and they had already put up their "Sounds of the Season" front page. As of 3am this morning, JBR was still in its normal format.

When I woke up today, I had a message from Michael Klein on my cell phone that JBR had flipped at 6am and he had a voicemail from the "powers to be at B-101" that they decided to flip around 10:30 this morning in reaction to JBR.

Very interesting. I wonder if B-101 did this because of the Beasley's plans to make JBR more of a "Philly station". Whatever the reason, all of the Christmas music fans of the Delaware Valley should be very happy today!

who needs sunny when we got B 101.1 .looks like B 101 won the christmas war!!!B 101 will be on my radio till late next week when sirius goes all christmas on 3 channels. I as many people do love christmas music!!!.

Christmas war? There's no more Sunny... B-101's the only AC game in town...

WJBR is not a Philadelphia station. It does not have the signal to compete in Philadelphia. (Maybe one day in the next two years it will, but right now, it does not.) I live in the heart of the Philadelphia market and I cannot get the station on a single radio in the house, except for one with a really good tuner and a decent antenna (which 99% of listeners don't have). And even on that one the signal was full of static.

Of course it's a bit better in the car, but driving around Montgomery County the station is full of static and picket fences like crazy. And it won't stop-on-seek. Regular listeners don't put up with stuff like this. It's called "clock radio signal", and WJBR does not have one in most of the Philadelphia market.

If you live in parts of Chester, Delaware, or Philadelphia Counties and enjoy hearing Christmas music in November (and don't have access to numerous commercial-free satellite Christmas channels) then you're in good shape right now.

WJBR won't affect B-101's Christmas programming one bit as far as taking any listenership. The guys at The "B" know this. Where B-101 could be affected is in agency sales, as well as some direct sales in the parts of the Philly market where WJBR happens to be clear (West Chester, PA for example.) If the Beasleys can sell WJBR to Madison Avenue masquerading it as Philadelphia station (which may be difficult since the station can't even pull a one-share in Philly), then perhaps The "B" could lose a sale or two. Unlikely, though, I think.

If the Beasleys want any chance of establishing WJBR as a "Philadelphia" outlet, then going Christmas is probably the worst thing to do. For more than a month now, this major market will have no AC station. WJBR could have filled that need, at least for the few areas in the Philly market where the station can be heard clearly.

More like B101 won the AC war, and by default get the win on the christmas war. I guess B101 was winning that war too, since they still had better ratings, but I always liked sunny's christmas better. I hated how B101 would play current artists versions of various classics. I hope they stopped that this year (Havn't had the chance to listen yet), since they're not competing with Sunny, and don't need to put up an alternative to Sunny's classics.

But i told you about the WJBR flip on the IM dont give me any credit

YOUASSHOLE LOL

Here's a prediction.......

B 101 will pull an 11 share 12 plus in the fall book without another Philadelphia radio station going 24/7 Holly Jolly. JBR will not be much of a factor. I heard from a relative that every single store she went into today..and it was at least 10 (she's a shopping fiend) had B 101 on their radios. And with Jerry Lee probably doing his usual stellar job running TV ads.....B's already won the battle.....

11...maybe I better up that to a 12.

My bad Mike!

Mike from S. Philly alerted me to the impending JBR flip to all Christmas via the IM during last night's show. I hope you are happy now Mike!

Actually, if you look back in time... Sunny and B-101 were tied for the Month of December last year for share in the market. Doesn't sound like B-101 was winning the war on X-mas music. But I find it hard to believe that B went all X-mas based on JBR. But what do I know? I predicted they would have flipped yesterday.

But i liked the way sunny did x-mas it was better Little movie clips between songs and stuff like that

I know all the call letters joe

I liked the way sunny did christmas music too. B was and is still a poor attempt. Hate to see what their share will be like from being the only game in town.

draw an imaginary line east west from the northern part of the city of philadelphia and anything south of that line WJBR has good reception ok maybe not to best in center city or in close proximity to the towers roxbrough but its decent on any car radio in about 50% of the southern part of the market. you cant tell me WJBR doesnt compete with B101 in delaware, chester, adjacent counties in nj the transmitter is right at the pa state line less than 25 miles sw of center city.
