"All Commercials, All The Time" on KLIF

Did anyone hear KLIF around 11:30 Weds ? The Fred Thompson Show was on & Senator Thompson annouced that after the break he would be interviewing Karl Rove. KLIF then (after 11:30 headlines) stayed in a commercial break until 11:47, when they joined the Rove interview in progress. It ended at 11:54 & they returned to yet more commercials.

That could be what happened...at KTNS we had tapes of previously aried shows that we ran if the feed was down.

Wanted to reply to my reply. Maybe KLIF's feed was down during that 17 mins. I hadn't thought of that.
I've heard them play so many commercials that they return to Dave Ramsey in progress numerous times.
(Actually, I've pretty much stopped listening to KLIF other than Ed Wallace.) But I didn't want to sound like a know-it-all either. At KTNS we had 1 show of each talk host & several short features on tape that we could run if ABC's feed went down. (Which it did once, for most of a day.) But that may not be the practice at KLIF or they may not have had any idea that it would be down for that long.

Isn't this about the time of year the satellite and the sun are in the same inclination? I know that when the azimuth is identical, sat feed is lost for just about 15-20 minutes.

I remember one station years ago with a sat feed knew when to expect this, and kept a cart handy
with the Beatles' "Here Comes the Sun", which they'd play, and then run local content until the sat signal came back.

When did KLIF get the Fred Thompson show? Isn't Glenn Beck on at that time?

Glenn Beck ends @ 1100. Fred Thompson is on from 1100-1300. Dave Ramsey 1300-1600.

Thanks hoss.

They do this all the time on the online feed, which is why I always switch away to KRLD to hear the 7am news. I'm not going to miss the morning news so I can hear Miley Cyrus' song hawking the 93.3 FM station for the thousandth time. It was happening more often than not. They also cut off the first part of Jeff Bolton's show frequently.

Their online stream is a joke. No wonder they are Cume-Less.

Intersting...

The 17 minute commercial break on the 18th on-air as well as online.

These guys are asleep at the board.

Speaking of sleep, I think I have come up with a new way to fight insomnia. Instead of counting sheep, I will count the commercials on KLIF. That should knock me out in no time.

I've been saying and saying, AM radio is self-destructing with a short-term-survival advertising price structure.

KTCK and WBAP seem to be going just fine. Especially 1310 on its pissant signal.

KLIF out-did themselves this morning. All but the last 4 minutes of Jeff Bolton's show was obliterated with commercials on the online feed, from 6:30 - 7:00. I sent an email to the PD this morning, we'll see if it gets fixed.

Things may be in flux over there, given the fact they no longer have "The Wells Report" on afternoon drive because "they are going in a different direction." I think that was a lousy move; JD had the best local show - far better than the syndicated shows.
