It's called a "gold" song.

<font color=3333ff>Still now main commercial Urban or Rhythmic station for the QC since 1580 *sigh.........I always couldn't stand WHTS.

Any word on what 92.5 is, was, or became?

Actually....alot of smaller market CHR's play alot of gold. I hear Ini Kamozee Here Comes The Hot Stepper, still being played on alot of small market CHR's.....that song was popular in the end of 1994 into 1995.

92.5 is Urban or CHR/Rhythmic (haven't listed enough to tell) as 92.5 The Groove.

Also...on All Hit 98.9...the only 90's song I ever hear is Janet Jackson - Again. I don't really care for that song.

By the way...when are the Quad Cities stations going to get RDS!?! There are no Quad Cities stations that have it! I know 101.3, 103.7, and 106.5 used to have it. If the encoders are just sitting around, hook them back up! That would at least make me partly satisfied. 13 of the Peoria stations have RDS now and 4 of them show the Artist/Title information. Even like 6 stations in LaSalle/Peru have it. That's my vent about the Quad Cities.

:)

QC?? QC?? What about Rockford? No one in the commercial band here has it, except for WYRB (Chicago targeted but I think the stick is technically in the Rockford market) and Life 102.5 (Madison).

WDEK still has yet to add RDS... WRZA and WKIE both have it. Would be cool if they got AF to work there!

Yes. Z-100 New York, the most listened to radio station in America, and also a CHR plays it as well.
The main reasons being: It was huge back in the day on CHR radio, and Green Day's back on the charts and back on CHR radio. Hence this decade-old hit is still relavant.

Oh God no!. That's negro music. White people listening to CHR don't like that kin of stuff. True quote from a well respected consultant. And you wonder why people are running from radio.

play ini kamozee or Jade...

Re: hmmm

1989 when we got done blowing his doors down. How's this one for you. "White people aren't going to listen to that rap crap". Spoken at a dinner table at a convention by a PD then now big time consultant. Amazing how little these people know. They couldn't see a trend coming until it ran them over. They're only interested in giving people en masse what they like when they understand it and that takes years of missing the boat. That's not being a visionary or a guru, that's being a sheep. That's throwing in the towel because their way of doing things was wrong and they have no choice but to go in a direction they'd rather not. That's where dance is now, that's where electronica is now. They're in denial, they don't see it and this time there's a bunch of things for people to do about, they can get up and never come back to the medium.

They have AF on WKIE and WRZA, but it's not programmed correctly. My Blau chokes when it tries to flip from one freq to the other. After about 10 seconds, it lands back where it started, then a moment later tries to make the flip again.

Chicago Public Radio had it working great between WBEZ 91.5 and WBEW 89.5 -- The Blaupunkt would flip with virtually no interruption in audio. Now they only have RDS on WBEZ 91.5, even though it could be even more useful now that WBEQ 90.7 has been added to the group. But, supposedly, 90.7 and 89.5 will have different programming than 91.5 in the future.

Just curious... Does HD Radio support the concept of RDS's AF mechanism?
