I was curious to see if KSAT-12 the ABC affiliate in San Antonio would pick up Regis & Kelly since as of September 2010 it hasn't been on San Antonio TV anywhere but I'm wondering how Nate Berkus is doing over there in the 9:00 AM Central slot and if San Antonio might pre-empt one of the new ABC shows to run Regis & Kelly and possibly move Berkus to afternoons possibly in Oprah's old time slot (4:00 PM Central) when her show leaves for good in September.

The 'Live with Regis and Kelly' franchise will devalue with Regis' retirement. But 'Live with Kelly' maybe more valuable than anything else on the air.

...if I were an ABC affiliate GM, I wouldn't even bother with those shows...I'd take those two hours and then put in syndicated programming.

Though no doubt some will cheap out and use some or all of the extra time for infomercials.

Had WLNE in Providence - you know, home of the "bra infomercial" in the prime access hour - been under previous ownership, they would definitely be a shoo-in for this!

OMG! The Fort Myers/Naples ABC affiliate (then known as WEVU TV) used to air an afternoon program with the same name.
It was on from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm ET, leading into the evening news.

OMG! The Fort Myers/Naples ABC affiliate (then known as WEVU TV) used to air an afternoon program with the same name.
It was on from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm ET, leading into the evening news.

Many stations have carried "Dialing for Dollars" to some capacity, usually with a movie, but it was also done alongside syndicated programming and, in WPVI's case, as a standalone talk program with a contest segment:

I wonder if there will be some ABC affiliates in the Central Time Zone who currently air their midday news at 11 or 11:30AM that will decide to move their newscast to noon after AMC says farewell--even if ABC inserts "The Chew" in the 1ET/12CT timeslot. Case in point: Sinclair-owned WICS-20 Springfield, IL (and its sister station WICD-15 Champaign, IL), which was formerly an NBC affiliate until Labor Day 2005. From about the mid-90s until the Big Switch, WICS aired their midday news at noon, and was forced to push it back an hour after the move to ABC (BTW NBC went to former ABC affiliate WAND-17 Decatur, IL--who promptly moved their midday news to noon from its old ABC time slot of 11:30).

We've made a lot of the fact that some ABC affiliates in the
Central time zone, such as WFAA and KSAT, aired "All My
Children" on a day-behind at 11 AM (CT), and we've argued
for a setup like CBS uses for "The Young And The Restless,"
feeding it twice so everybody's on the same day's episode
(except Lexington, KY, whose CBS affiliate chooses to air
"Y&R" on a day-behind).

If "The Chew" goes at noon (CT), I think that will become a
moot point, because whether it airs in pattern or a day behind
doesn't really matter. I look for it to air day-behind at 11 AM
in Dallas and San Antonio.

Maybe they could bring back that 1990-1991-era Match Game that didn't air in many markets due to being pre-empted for noon news.

I'm not a big fan of the soaps and won't miss them, and I probably won't care about the new talk shows, but at least it isn't more Springer/Maury type garbage. I wish they'd bring back more game shows, but that isn't very likely to happen. But at least if ABC puts shows in place and keep the pressure on stations to carry them we hopefully won't end up with more infomercials or trash talk on local stations. I just hope ABC doesn't go the direction of NBC and caving in to local stations.

As a somewhat long time fan of GH, I fear this means its days are numbered too. I hope that it is allowed to survive until its 50th anniversary (April 1, 2013). I figure the strategy to keep one soap alive at each network is in place, for now- and we will patiently wait to see who will be the first to pull the trigger and ditch the genre entirely (most likely, NBC will ditch Days of Our Lives first, as Comcast will want to cut costs and start migrating programming over to its cable networks).

Back in the early 2000s, I believe, ABC Daytime crossed over characters amongst the three dramas (Port Charles wasn't included because this was during their telenovela arches), but it would be interesting to see if ABC has any intention on moving any popular characters, storylines, actors, etc over to its last remaining show.

Did CBS do this upon cancellation of Guiding Light or As the World Turns?

CBS and Procter & Gamble considered moving some "GL" characters to "ATWT," but it never happened.

"AMC," "OLTL," and "GH" have done occasional crossovers of characters at least since the '80s. One that stands out in my mind was "GH"'s Dr. Steve Hardy (the late John Beradino) being called to Llanview ("OLTL"'s town) to treat a patient at their hospital. Over at CBS, "Y&R" and "B&B" do this occasionally as well (both were created by the late Bill Bell and his wife Lee Phillip Bell), and there have been some crossovers between both shows and "ATWT".

Well, with Soapnet gone in 2012, this was bound to happen. If both "The Chew" and "Revolution" fail, chances are that ABC will give those two hours back to the affils, and I wouldn't be surprised as to how fast they will fill that timeslot.

Here in Denver, KMGH 7 would most likely move its midday news to 12:00 Noon & run it for an hour OR run a two hour midday newscast from 11:00 AM till 1:00 PM. Only question is what would they put on at 1:00 PM once OLTL leaves the air?

GH would still air at 2:00 PM to be consistent with what KUSA 9 is doing with DOOL on NBC

General reaction - I didn't see this one coming the way it did (I did see the cancellation of OLTL coming though)

My prediction is that The Bold & The Beautiful will likely be the last soap on network TV unless someone rescues SoapNet from certain death with the promise of producing original soaps or a subchannel network is created for the same purpose

Nope. Not one character from GL moved to Oakdale from Springfield & not one character from ATWT could be moved to Los Angeles or Genoa City either

to work, also a daytime legend from "OLTL", Erika Slezak (Viki). It's a shame that still another
soap icon, Kim Zimmer (Reva, "GL"), hasn't been on "OLTL" very long (only since October, I think),
and I hope she, too, can find something else.
