All News 106.7 HD & Analog Out of Sync

Arrrrrggghhhhhh! I live in an area where my car radio keeps switching from analog to HD. The audio streams are not in sync. I lose o e or two syllables when goi g from analog to HD and I hear a repeated syllable or two when goon from HD to analog. It is so annoying.

I am sitting in the Ansley Kroger parking lot as I type this. The radio has swapped HD to analog several times. It makes me want to turn off the FM radio and stream it on my phone.

I called the news line and a helpful person answered the phone and said he would email the engineering department. I hope it is a quick fix.

I was typing the above post from my iPhone. I have fat thumbs. Here it is without all of the typos and an addition:

To add to the post: While on Piedmont Rd in front of Ansley Mall, my radio switched between HD and analog about 10 times. The spoken word is just not listenable in that situation. We were not having the out of sync problem with AGH, so I wonder what changed this morning.

I notice this too. On my JVC KD-HDR44, you can force analog only and store it to a preset.
But POOR MARIAH CAREY...she is going to lose her voice on 106.7HD2. It would be GREAT to have Smooth Jazz back or AGH, SOMETHING you can't get elsewhere on the dial, otherwise what is the point of HD radio?

Unfortunately, my car radio does not have an option of turning off the HD and forcing to analog. So, I am stuck with the imperfect/annoying out of sync audio. If they don't fix it soon, I will just stream when I am in the car.

It is fixed. The engineering types must be reading this or they got the email from the nice guy that answered the phone yesterday. I did another run to Ansley Kroger today and had the typical 10 times switch between analog and digital without losing syllables. It is still annoying, but not nearly as much.

I am surprised they kept the HD on. They do not do a lot of live field reports but if they did it is easier to monitor on air for your cues rather than a back haul phone line.

Well, their New legal IDs do not say WYAY-HD1, but just WYAY/Gainesville. So I guess their HD is not on.

HD is on. I just listened to it a few minutes ago. Some stations do not ID HD1 for some reason. I think WYAY changed their minds.

Apparently the FCC requirement for IDing an HD1 signal is very flexible and doesn't require a specific format like the regular ID (call letters, + '-FM' if applicable, city of license)
