All News adding to the hiring list....

Tina Douglas formerly of CBS Radio here in Atlanta and WESH-TV in Orlando has been added to the list of new hires at All News 106.7 (along with Steve Nichols and Marti Covington). Cumulus has obviously given the go-ahead for more hirings...and I hear more are coming! Probably along with more "We Sound Better" ads. Oh, gotta love competition!

AN is up to a 1.6 6+. That's about what AGH was pulling.

AGH pulled a 2.9 (6+) in its final month on the air May 2012 with 674,100 listeners, AN not quite there yet but soon! APR 2013 0.7 with 346,200 listeners.

Art, can you try to identify what demo you're reporting? You're trying to compare the 6+ number for AGH (2.9) against All News' current ratings, which at least 6+ is a 1.6. Please tell us what 0.7 is referring to.

Jim sorry for the delay and any confusion wanted to make sure I understood what was sent me. The share and CUME 6+ was the very last month of the AGH format last May and the 6+ share and CUME of what is available thus far in the April PPM's.

What's reported in the public sources such as All Access are shares, not ratings. Shares are the percentage of listening that a station gets out of all the listening. In other words, shares add up to 100% (although they don't add up to 100% in what we see because some stations have too low a share to be reported).

Ratings are the percentage of listeners a station has out of all the people (in that demo) in the market, not just those who are listening. So ratings are proportionate to shares but are much smaller. (If everyone was listening all the time, ratings would be the same as shares.)

When media planners create a media plan, they use ratings. Programs are available that enable them to know how many rating points equate to certain reach and frequency levels. They can develop a media plan with certain levels that have been proven effective based on the reach and frequency. And when media buyers make a buy, they are told how many rating points per week to buy in each daypart based on the media plan.
