All-News Large Market Scoreboard for August 2013

San Francisco is a great market for All-News. Not only is KCBS #1 but KGO has now moved into the top 10 for the first time since switching to a mostly All-News format on weekdays. WTOP Washington and KYW Philadelphia finished at #2. But the new FM All-News stations in Houston, Washington and Atlanta continue to struggle.

1. New York...WINS #8...WCBS #9
2. LA...KNX #14 tie
3. Chicago...WBBM/WCFS(FM) #3 tie
4. San Francisco...KCBS/KFRC(FM) #1...KGO* #10 tie
5. Dallas...KRLD* #22
6. Houston...KROI(FM)^ #24
7. Washington...WTOP(FM) #2...WNEW-FM^ #23 tie
8. Philadelphia...KYW #2 tie
9. Atlanta...WYAY(FM)^ #19
10. Boston...WBZ* #4 tie
(11. Detroit...WWJ #3)
(13. Seattle...KOMO-AM-FM #20)
(25. Pittsburgh...KQV does not subscribe)

* part-time All-News station
^ station signed on last year

All stations are owned by CBS except KGO and WYAY (Cumulus), KROI (Radio One), WTOP (Hubbard), KOMO (Sinclair) and KQV (Calvary).

I listened to 1010 WINS for about 20 minutes via the Internet the other day. Drove me crazy.

I guess somewhere I should put the word "commercial" in the text, so we separate NPR stations from commercial All-News stations.
