All Philadelphia stations are guilty of poor journalism

All TV stations in Philadelphia are guilty of poor, unprofessional, journalism. The economy is in bad shape, there's still a War in the Middle East, and The Presidential election is in 2-3 weeks. Even so all Philly News stations feel compelled to start their broadcast off from a bar. In most cases they are at the overrated Chickie and Petes interviewing a bunch of red face painted jabronies drinking cheap beer and eating cholesterol ridden fatty foods. I'd like to know how this serves the Public interest? Ok, the Phillies are in the World Series which is all well and good, but lets get our priorities straight here.

We all knew this old complaint was coming. :D

No one is forgetting the economy or the war or the election. All are being covered, perhaps in a second segment, but they're all still there. Many many fans are pumped up and excited, and yes, for some it may be because it's a distraction from the bad news out there. So what? It's a couple of weeks, and ends just in time for the election to bump back up and dominate coverage for several days.

Good Journalism says to start with you're #1 story, the one that affects the most people. In winter, it's snow coverage and forcast many times. Summer, severe thunderstorms. Weather is the one thing that affects the lives of each and every viewer/listener.

In this case, the Phillies have lifted the spitits of this region in a time when we're swimming in a sea of bad news and lost fortunes. It allows us to take our minds off it for a few minutes. It was 1993 since this has happenned. Yeah, people celebrating! It's the lead story.

Are you a Mets and Dallas fan? ;-)
