All seems quiet on the Western Front

It is very quiet here today.

No fighting, no bickering, what is up with that?

I wish someone would do a kick butt country station and kick from Froggy butt.

Any thoughts on who could do it?

Maybe WGMR could go back to its roots and go back to Country.

Just a thought

It seems that most larger markets have at least two of each format.
In SC it has been that way with Alternative (Revolution & Buzz), now
CHR (Revolution & Hot) Rock (QWK & Buzz). I have always maintained
that the first FM to challenge Froggy, with a good Hot Country presentation
could cut their numbers in half. Even if a challenger only took 25% of
the Country listeners, that would be quite an interesting play. Daisy
chain a simulcast of smaller stations throughout Central PA, with one
monster 50kw like GMR. Borrow a play from the Keymarket play book ala-
Pittsburgh. WMTZ in Johnstown had a higher market share in the Johnstown
ratings than Froggy had in the Altoona ratings before when it was owned by
CC. Just a thought.

Interesting comment about someone doing Country in State College.

There are not too many choices out there.

From what's not taken by Forever/2510 Associates let's take a look:
95.3 3WZ - That won't happen!
101.1 WGMR - Could / Should... but, probably won't.
105.9 WUBZ - He's got his alternative buzz going and won't change.

Secondary Signals
92.1 WSNU (Lock Haven) - Stuck on the 80's/90's
93.1 WQYX (Clearfield) - Doing AC (Satellite)
95.7 WMRF (Lewistown) - Hot AC
96.7 WVNW (Burnham) - Great Country station
97.7 WVRT (Mill Hall) - Doing too well in the Williamsport market to change
99.9 WQBR (Avis/McElhattan) - They are currently doing Country.
102.1 WOWQ (DuBois) - Doing a good job at Country too.
102.9 (Curwensville) - Was doing AC.
103.5 WLKK (Huntingdon) Doing the same as 95.7
105.5 WCHX (Lewistown) - Top 40
106.9 WZYY - Same as The Buzz!

Synopsis:
I guess unless The Revolution does indeed happen at 101.1 FM; it will remain a Froggy 98 dominated game or you will have to DX one of the secondary signal stations.

If 2510 Associates acted independently of Forever; they should consider doing the following:

94.5 WLTS - Change it to WOWY 94.5
97.1 WOWY - Change it to Lion Country 97 FM (WLTS)
107.9 WKVB - Let it alone. Sounds very good.
970 WBLF - Change it to the ABC Memories format. Great format.

Just my thoughts

Will WLTS now broadcast out of the Clearview bldg.? If so, will that open up space for Bus at Park Center Blvd.? I notice Bus van is parked at Clearview, so I assume they're still located at that site?? I think somebody said Kevin Nelson was to start reporting to Park Center a couple wks ago. I haven't seen WRSC van at Clearview; only Bus & WOWY PT Cruiser.

The Bus has their studio at the Forever Building on Park Center Boulevard. They were there before WRSC was moved over.

BUS van actually belongs to 2510 and I think will be relettered.

Miss A is correct. At Park Center, QWK went into WOWY's space, Bus took over Lite's studio, and Lite was moved down to Production Room 1. WOWY moved to Bus's old Maestro at Clearview (only Maestro in the building then).

As of now (actually last Saturday) at Park Center, WRSC has been moved in with WMAJ (2 separate Maestro systems, board was replaced) and Dave Shannon hosts his part of AM drive from front conference room. (Where Pat does his 5 p.m. sports talk show on WMAJ.)

(Extra Bonus Trivia: Board recently moved out of WMAJ was once used on "Lite & Easy" WFBG-FM.)

I have been hearing alot of good air talent in the state college market recently. That in amongst itself drives everyone to pick up their games. The listener wins!!! that is what is important.....can Froggy be toppled......probably, but can the entity that decides to take the challenge afford it? No ratings, new format etc. wages promotions......is there really someone out there ready to throw the $$ at it? and promotionally I think all have to get back to the basics...visibility, t shirts, pool parties, have fun
As far as the station swaps the veteran broadcasters at 2510 will figure out what works and make it sound big market.......and i enjoy talking to Happy Valley on weekends to the boomer crowd.......
