All Things Finneran

With the hiring of felon Finneran The Boston Red Sox's flagship station will also be the Official Felon Station of The Boston Red Sox.
Bet the Red Sox are real happy about that.

My complaint letter to The Boston Red Sox will follow his hiring tomorrow.

If it doesn't "faze" WRKO, as the Herald reports, what about the Sox?

Wanna bet WTKK sends Entercomm a "thank you" note tomorrow? Old guy, political insider, couldn't talk about "American Idol" if you put a gun to his head....and he's a convicted liar? It's Miller Time at WTKK!

Speaking of "Miller," who would have imagined that WRKO would hire the one guy who makes Scotto sound good?

...and as I noted elsewhere there will soon be three talk hosts named Miller: Scott Allen on WRKO;
Stephanie, currently homeless on the dial here, and Dennis, soon to start a show on Westwood One
(March; if they had room WTKK could run it--they seem to be the "affiliate")

To keep with the criminal theme, I would suggest they hire Butch Hobson (former 3B, caught once when some drugs were sent to his motel
room) as a pregame host, then! (Actually Butch is managing a minor league team in Nashua these days.)

Trying to post 10 threads with same info? I had the news about the Herald article on it earlier. We could prob.
just try to keep it on as few threads as poss.

I saw the Ch 25 item via their website. No date yet given and it's said for morning drive--what becomes of
Scotto? Maybe he teams up with Feinburg for now at 9am, or he moves elsewhere, etc. Reaction on the
WRKO messageboard: "Say it ain't so--'Kahn and Wolfie are destroying this station'"; another listener says that other than Howie and Feinburg, they're tuning to 96.9.

I thought they said they were going to pair Finneran with someone. That was part of the debate, that they are paying this much for someone who needs a pro at his side.

It what one hope is a slam dunk challenge to WRKO's license...

Only in your dreams. It's none of the FCC's business who WRKO hires. If Tommy Taxes were being made an owner or a stockholder holding more than 4% of Entercom stock (not 100% positive about that figure, but I believe it's correct), that's another story altogether...but a talk-show host doesn't even blip the FCC's radar.

Your obsession with your former employer has apparently blinded you to the fact that Entercom just closed on WKAF, after the FCC stated that all the objections to the license transfer based on programming complaints were irrelevant to their fitness to be a licensee. The FCC does not involve itself in programming or personnel decisions...period.

Why don't they pair Felon Finneran with Whitey Bulger. Now, that would be worth turning on WROK.....

"Live, From Cedar Junction Its The Bulger and Finneran Show !"

So, that would be three host named Miller you can't hear on the air in Boston in about a week? :D

Todd Feinberg Touts The Party Line On WRKO

Todd Feinberg is on this morning touting the Julie "The Girl Executioners" Kahn's party line on Tom "The Felon" Finneran as a welcome addition to WRKO aka WROK...

Feinberg fails to mention one MAJOR factor... The FCC and WRKO/Entercon's license renewal.

Hire a felon - lose your license....?

Can you imagine if they hired an ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT in such a position. Oh, the hypocrisy ! It is dripping from the frauds at WRKO.

Support the laws and punish the law breakers who are basically powerless. But HIRE the law breaker FELON's who might make money for you.

WRKO Is Hypocrisy City.

Casablanca, I totally agree with you. We should demand HIGHER STANDARDS if few companies are going to buy up all the airwaves:

FCC
Enforcement Bureau, Investigations and Hearings Division

Here's the online form:

File under: Indecent Material Complaint Form

Tom Finneran is Indecent Material

But I think a more effective way is to go to the Red Sox and their advertisers - Giant Glass, Etc.
Anyone with a sign at Fenway Park should get a letter of complaint - Coca Cola, Dunkin Donuts, etc. etc.

Remember, Thomas Finneran is a BIGOT.
He got into trouble trying to redistrict his legislative seat so than NO BLACK or MINORITY would be able to run in that district.

Hope the Black and minority community will picket outside of WRKO particularly on Monday, Martin Luther King Day.

Finneran is a throw back to the days when the Irish took over from the Yankee Blue Bloods and suddenly everyone else was a foreigner and an outsider. We have had quite enough of that kind of narrow mined thinking in this city.

Time for Tommy Boy "The Convicted Felon and Bigot" to crawl back into his rat hole.

>>Martin Luther King Day

...when dribble dribble basketball will be heard starting at 2 pm (pre-empting part of Howie's show).
Will the sneaker building allow protestors in?

Are any black hosts on WRKO? (er...does the fact that Michael Holley works down the hall at 'EEI count)

I realize quite well that you never allow facts to interfere with your agenda, but that doesn't make the facts go away.

The FCC does not care about WRKO hiring Finneran, and they never will.

REPEAT: THEY DON'T CARE.
IT'S OFF THEIR RADAR.
IT'S IRRELEVANT TO THE LICENSE RENEWAL PROCESS.
IT SCORES A BIG FAT ZERO...ZILCH...NADA...BUPKES...ON THE FCC'S AGENDA.

I'm not former, I'm current (and thus perhaps not in your line of focus for that post). 26 years at WMWM as of March. I've never worked for WRKO--I listen to them
for Howie, Red Sox, and occasionally Todd F. Who knows, Tommy could be a great talk show host but his
reputation does precede him (as does the slap-on-the-wrist he got for perjury). More than a few angry
responses from listeners on air at WRKO and on their messageboard. It's a hot topic. (Certainly gets them
in the news. 'Say what you want but just spell my name right.'")

It may seem like the "let's talk about/bash/praise" WRKO talk here is getting tiring, but consider that this
board is like talk radio itself. As Howie himself would put it, "This is the news people are discussing at their
water coolers...this is what people talk about".

Whether it's WRKO's follies, Severin giving up a national gig (or was he forced out?) to go back to Boston,
AAR being dumped from one of the most liberal cities in the nation, "we're here to talk about it".

btw on Prov board, someone is hearing that Hannity may just be a temp. show on WHJJ and that Mar 1
could be DePetro's return.

>>The FCC does not care about WRKO hiring Finneran, and they never will.

And unless the (un)Fairness Doctrine comes back, they probably won't respond to listeners complaining
about AAR being pulled here either.

And say what you will about Entercom and the Julie & Jason Show this morning: at least they're
doing local talk. More than can be said about Canal Claro y la nueva Rumba and the fact that
they never put a daily local talk show on Boston's Prog Talk. (Yet there are local DJs on Rumba;
guess they found money for THAT! :) )

This is more of a generic question in response to the various comments about the FCC---along with who is on the air and what he or she has said (or done):

"Is it now politically correct (aka permissable) to say and do anything as long as "the annual licensing and broadcast fees" are paid on time? ???

Who sets the broadcast standards these days? Or do they no longer apply? ::)
