So I'd like to know.... for all of us who are not from Dothan... why all this hate against Magic Broadcasting... why all the bile?

could someone fill me in as to why so much hate is directed towards this company........

The answers that you seek grasshopper are more than likely
contained within the 92 pages of post to the Alabama board.

Maybe someone will pipe up and give you the short answer.
 
Skipper .. I agree! It seems that you cannot log on to the boards for the area and not get gloom and doom and never a post without some kind of jab at Magic. Think we may just have some former employees who were terminated for wahtever reason that are striking out. Magic may have suffered some rating and revenue losses over the past few years but that can be said about many well established stations in markets of all sizes. Mistakes could have been made but it appears the owners are making some valant efforts to fix the problems and move forward. Think that is want some of the contributors to the boards need to do .. move on! Don McCoy did not get where he is today being stupid and the other members may not have the broadcast experience as Don but it remains a board that apprears to be dedicated to rebuilding this cluster. Cut em some slack and let's see what happens.
 
Agreed. I think it's hard for some folks to accept the realities of radio now because it's something sacred or special to them personally. The reality is that radio is a business just like any other in America. People make business decisions, not everybody necessarily likes the decisions, but it's a business. I think it's like the Polaroid camera, which recently stopped being produced. If you feel like you have some kind of tie to it, then remember it fondly, but don't get mad that they don't make them anymore or get hung up on whatever decisions they make now. Polaroid cameras aren't relevant anymore; the decision for Polaroid to stop making them was a decision to help them save money and stay in business. So it goes with radio. Don't like the decisions? Let it go; if there's anger, allow yourself to forgive the offenders. Radio is a business, folks; the goal is to continue to have a product that's going to bring in money.
 
I went to Dothan this past weekend and met J.B. & Chris and I have to say they both are really nice guys.... I think that 100.5's change to Star 100.5 is a good move... not just because I'm doing 10a to 2p...LOL... but I know the format has worked here in Montgomery and is strong with men and women 25 - 54 & 35 - 54.... I also think that with Rick & Terry in the mix lots of good things will happen... Rick Peters has forgotten more about radio than I probably know... I think thing might just get a whole lot better...

HOW BOUT THIS....
Let's say you are a former employee and on the air somewhere else in the market now... concentrate on your show, and we'll concentrate on ours and let the best stations win. We'll see what the ratings are like in a couple of books and who's doing what. I hope everybody the best.... but I can tell you now I won't be wasting my time running down somebody else or their station... I'm gonna try and make my show the best it can be everyday..... 8)... if you put as much time into your show as you do hating you might just help yourself to some better numbers...

Hasn't the oh so great Don Mccoy been around since the start of the down fall for the Majic Stations isn't he the CEO in charge of everything. Look at KDAY it has done nothing but fall since the Majic buyout, Locally it has fallen for the last 3 years. The same board, the same CEO has taken the cluster down buy hiring the clear channel rejects over the years for Managment positions.

I'm just stating the facts. When you live and breath in this Market you will get to know it instead of by way of Voice Tracking 4 hours a day.
Oh ya every market is different what works in one may not work In another.

It is OK. Enjoy the Kool-Aid. Many others have been under the Trajical Spell.

The good part is the spell only last about 6-12 months.

One correction for PEANUTCAPITOL, I think. Though I agree with the majority of your posts about Don G. McCoy, unless I misread the FCC filings when the ownership structure changed, I don't think he has been making the decisions for Magic for nearly one year now. Look it up or maybe if the seer is willing Preem may even post a link to the proper section.

Skipper!, you've absolutely no real concept of just how quiet and just how little bashing is/has gone on since Blue has come in to take on a very difficult task. There will be some but if I may, Sir, allow me to suggest that rather than invite more of it by preaching about how rash that it is, ignore it. Or at least do as suggested earlier in this thread and read the previous 4 years worth of threads/posts about Dothan ....... "if you don't know history then you are doomed to repeat it".

Everyone have a good weekend because Monday brings a new day with the morning ( ;)). Daylight is waning and we and night draws nigh.
 
Ah, well. Such is my lot but glad am I to bear the burden. See you boys and girls on the flip side where the grooves are still deep and true.
