All this trash talk is getting old

Radio Info.com a great place to trash each other, I'm sure this was the marketing tool thought of when this place was created. Whats the deal? I've been snooping for awhile, and finally decided to say something when I realized that the only info I was getting was everyone thinks everyone else sucks. Have you all forgotten that we got into radio because it was fun. I did it for free for months before I actually got paid to do this, because I enjoyed it. Nobody likes every single song their station plays, Nobody likes everything said in every talk show on their station. Its called variety, and its a beautiful thing. If you don't like it, YOU change it, quit harping on every other station or every other dj. Basically if you don't like it, don't listen, if you don't even work in radio, shutup. If its informative tell me about it, if its all crap like who's not playing "all the hits" don't friggin type it. JUST SHUT UP!!

Build a bridge...

...and get over it! ha ha ha (always wanted to use that line)

Sure, some of the rampant trash talking is getting a bit out of hand, but this is ultimately a place for radio people (both learned and not) to express their opinions and share their views about the business.

Just as you suggest not listening to something you don't like, I might suggest the same as far as reading posts. If you're annoyed by a series of posts, don't read them. I, for one, am not paying much attention to the threads you speak of...and I'm not annoyed in the slightest!

Re: Build a bridge...

Point well taken my dear friend. I'm not annoyed with the site, I'm annoyed with the ignorance presented by some posts... when these posts affect your station, the people you work with every day, and the management you are under, like a car crash on the side of the road, you know you shouldn't look, but you do. Constructive critism is awesome, hell it helps... tearing someone from their toes up.... Notta... but as I said, I get your point and couldn't agree more

Variety ... what variety? Thanks to Clear Channel, Cox and Infinity there is NO variety on Atlanta radio and since I don't like it, I DON'T listen to ANY station owned by Clear Channel or Cox (with the exception of WSB when I want news).

As far as changing things, YOU DO IT! You work in radio ... that's your job! Give us the variety and entertainment we want. Get rid of the spanish crap, do something about the 4 urban stations that all play the same songs over and over every 90 minutes.

Give us something different that the other stations don't offer. Give us Dance, give us our Oldies back, dig deeper and play music that we remember as kids and haven't heard since then.

Until then, I'll continue to enjoy my XM.

Let me throw in my 2 cents worth.... seeing as how you made a post below on the Christian music thread, I'll assume you're a Christian. But regardless, go back and look at your post here above. Pretty inflammatory stuff you're writing yourself. "JUST SHUT UP!!" ? You're talkin' the talk but not walkin' the walk. Like I said, just my 2 cents worth.

On behalf of every underpaid & overworked air-talent, past & present, thanks a whole lot for that. You helped drive down salaries for everybody by treating the job like a hobby.

> JUST SHUT UP!!

When I get the impression you've got more time on the job than I spent in the bathroom on the job, I'll "just shut up". Until then ... I'll give your rant all the consideration it deserves.

And they never cease to amaze... I just wanted to extend my gratitude for wonderfully proving my point for me. And the sad thing is, I considered a retaliation message... but ya know, whenever someone puts it as amazingly as that... there just isn't anymore to say.. thanks again guys.

In other words, get rid of what over a third of the market listens to?
And replace it with what?

> Give us Dance, give us our Oldies back, dig deeper and play music that we

Ah, I see -- take off formats that people are actually listening to & replace them with a dead format (Oldies), one that would do little except shuffle the existing audience around (Dance) & that you couldn't give away much less sell, and one that ... heck, I'm not sure how you want to define that "music that we remember". Could be Oldies (see above), Nostalgia (been done), or Classic Rock (being done already).

Brilliant, simply brilliant.

WTF.... are you serious? Well, if your station, mgmt., co-workers are effected by what's on a internet forum. Then maybe their focus is on the wrong place? What do you think?

if you don't even work in radio, shutup. >

Why don't you shut up, simplydj. This isn't just the professionals that this board is here for. It's also for the enthusiasts of the medium and the people that want to get in the business. So what if we're griping on one station for whatever reason. It's called having ideas; we all have ideas and thoughts on Atlanta radio, pro or fan, that we like to talk about on this board. It's what the board was created for, simplyDA.

AMEN!

As I have said before, if I had my way, the Radio-Info boards would be ONLY for those professionals working in the business, with all the wannabees restricted to their own speacial piss and moan board. Clearly, I don't have my way, but when a thread really annoys me (and I really try to ignore many of those that do), I simply delete it. <P ID="signature">______________

Attention, this is a radio message board! Let everyone talk about all the crap in radio they want! Thats what this board is for! This isn't something you should be stressing about! Sheesh!

I would have to agree. THERE IS NEVER going to be a point or time
in our lives or anyone elses, that we could all come together and
be in total agreement. Thats what makes being HUMANS so great.
If we all got together and decided that station x, better than
Station b, or even i, then life would be so boring. Lest you
even think that dj... I can only hope you would understand
that most on here are either pros in the business, or folks
who love radio, or those who just want to express an opnion,
and understand this is life, if you cant then you may need
to take your own medicine and just end the noise...

Express those opnions, and keep it goin. I Like some stations but
only WSB for News, And WGKA for some diffrent hosts, other than the
ones who talk about thier books, and how much money they have.
