AllAccess Reports KRPT 92.5 is Going Talk Tomorrow

According to AllAccess.com, The Outlaw in San Antonio will be flipping from Texas country to The Patriot at 9 am on April 15.. It will be yet another talk station carrying syndicated conservative commentators, such as Michael Savage and Neal Boortz.
I loved listening to this station online, as it played Texas music full time. As I am in New York, does anyone know whether there are other stations that air nothing but Texas country?

Okay since no one has said it yet allow me....

WHAT THE F#$&????

The online stream for The Outlaw abruptly ended mid-song at 6:52 PM CST. Their website is now teasing the new talk format.
Is The Outlaw still being broadcast on 92.5 FM?

I truely don't understand this move...If it didn't work on a 100,000 watts signal, why would CC bring back the Talk format on a rimshot frequency.

Smokescreen? Perhaps, Alternative Rock or Rhythmic AC?

I would give my left nut for this station to be rock alternative.

Yeah but the signal doesn't span very far.

Wow.... I'm clearly at a lost for this one. I actually liked the Outlaw. I'm not even going to give 92.5 the chance I'm giving 106.7 (which btw, I really dig 106.7 now).

Can someone explain to me why a station would flip to the most recently failed format? ???

Oh well, I guess we still have New Braunfels radio.

That is a great question. I don't get it. Then again, there were a lot of disappointed FM Talk fans out there when FM Talk died so it might be a good idea after all.

i don't know what the message is about, the station management or owners to put on a format that so far hasn't worked on fm. in austin we had kjfk, now again kxbt 98.9 big talker and also had koyt coyote 104.3. i think maybe these companies have too many radio stations and don't know what to do with them.

If that were the case I wish they'd give me at least one, I have a MILLION ideas on what I would do at the helm.

If you want a rock alternative station so bad, why not just get a SiriusXM radio? They have many different varieties of Alternative Rock channels.

Simple: An all-bird-fed talk format is cheaper to run, and furthermore, it protects WOAI. The CC/SA guy in the All Access article linked on the previous page said just as much.

As someone outside the market this one really baffles me. So bizarre that they are taking the same talk products that just failed and putting them on an inferior signal and hoping for different results. I guess it locks up the programming and protects CC...playing defensive a bit here...but I just don't get it. What is that they say about making the same mistake twice and expecting different results?

KFAN Fredericksburg streams online. But it's off tune right now.

Shoot them an email and ask them to fix it.

Another Texas music station is KTWL, which serves the northwest part of the Houston market. Website and stream at http://www.texasmix1053.com/

Website was slow to load when I checked it, but the stream was working.

I appreciate the suggestions for stations streaming Texas music.
Of the ones mentioned, the only one that has a solid reliable stream on my Internet radio in KNBT. As it promotes itself as offering an Americana format, I'm not sure whether they are playing pure Texas country music.
Though KVET out of Austin airs classic country during the day (with an emphasis on Texas artists), I really like its nighttime show, the Roadhouse. It seems to offer a good selection of Texas country artists. Chris Mosser does a good job hosting the show. I enjoy his interviews of Texas artists, and the occasional live concerts.
Despite the many bland stations Clear Channel operates, KVET seems to be unique, and highly customized to meet the tastes of the local area. As it is doing very well in the Austin ratings, hopefully it will not make major changes.
