AllAccess via SaveWRKO: Blazer the new PD for 96.9 FM Talk

"It's now confirmed: Grace Blazer will be the new program director at WTKK-FM. According to Perry Simon at All Access, she'll be introduced to staffers this week. After a long run at the helm of CBS Radio's WPHT-AM in Philly, Blazer will bring a fresh perspective to WTKK that's free of any local baggage, something the station badly needs." (SaveWRKO.com)

Maloney says that WTKK needs to oppose the state's one party rule (act as watchdog, etc.) and he feels
putting Globies on the air is a bad idea (the studios are just down the street from the paper of course...)

more details are at radioandrecords.com

"As expected, Grace Blazer, who recently exited CBS Radio talk WPHT/Philadelphia, joins Greater Media’s similarly formatted WTKK/Boston as PD... Greater Media/Boston VP/market manager Phil Redo says Blazer’s “energy, experience and fresh view of the market is exactly what we are looking for.”

The R&R bit also mentions recent WTKK ratings.

This is a good move for Blazer. Hopefully she'll have some elbow room unlike where she came from. Congrats Grace!

On her watch, the Philly station dropped most of its local hosts and became mostly syndicated. She did run Jay Severin's syndicated show in the evening and Bill O'Reilly delayed to late a night. People seem divided on whether it was her idea to cut back on local hosts or a corporate decision (CBS) but she found the station mostly local (like 96.9 is now) and left it mostly syndicated. Maybe GM wants to cut costs.
