Anyone see the article about Salem maybe selling under performing stations? Could KY stations be up for grabs or are they making money?

good question... I think WGTk is making them some cash.. it seems to be doing well for what it is, but, the RIVER and WFIA I'm not sure of...

The River put on a pretty big free concert last night (although they took donations for a program that airs on WFIA). There certainly would be room to cut costs at that end.

Salem at one point was interested in divesting its Louisville Properties. WGTK does well, however it also flies solo under the "Red Lion" banner. WGTK's pure play cash goes through Salem wallets in the end.

WFIA-900
WGTK-970
WFIA-94.7
WRVI-105.9

It will be interesting to see what happens. Could they do some swaps with Cumulus to make a bigger footprint in either market?

WFIA-900 and WGTK-970 could make a nice news/talk combo for anyone looking.
WFIA-94.7 could fare well for a broadcaster wanting to do a musical format
WRVI-105.9 might just go to the "Rivers" family for another signal in city.

Worth noting that the FM's don't have killer signals across all of Jefferson County. Louisville is a small enough city that Class A's in the midst of town (102.3,103.9 and soon 93.9) can do well. The 93.1/94.7/104.3/105.1/105.9 tier of stations all have signal limitations. Even with all of these signals simulcasting, the lucrative eastern part of Jefferson County would still not receive solid service. AM 900 & especially AM 970 have great signals. I'd love to see someone with the resources to have a 24 hour/7 day a week news department get hold of 970. It would have to be someone with deeper pockets than Clear Channel...they can't afford a full time news departemnt for WHAS...want proof? Listen to the lack of local news after noon Saturday & all day Sunday.

Clear Channel is too cheap to put local news on a heritage station like WHAS which is sad.

The local news they have on now is also very generic. I have heard the exact same newscast from the exact same anchor on WLAP. I had my suspicions that the news was recorded when they stopped giving the current conditions after the weather forecast (which is also recorded hours earlier instead of live like it used to be). What Clear Channel has done to the heritage station like WHAS is shameful. Barry Bingham is rolling in his grave.

HMMMMMMM which is worse what clear channel has done to whas or what radio one did to wlrs both are bad but whas still makes money. Whas needs to put a local show where drudge use to be. The person that took his spot is not entertaining.I see where ziegler has left kfi in los angeles he could come back here maybe.I would like it but the powers that be would shun the idea!!!
