Allen Kath is back

Does this mean that Journal has now both Metro and Kath? Or is metro out of the Journal stations???

Allen Kath doesn't work at KTAR anymore?

Damn. Who am I going to feed this tape to?

When did Allen Kath work at KT'R?

I remember him on KOPA (now K-Slacks for you newbies)
as part of the morning show with...was it Jones 'n' Boze?
...or maybe Andrew Ashwood? I think he was the "news dog"
as opposed to the trafficmeister. Or maybe did both.

He was KTAR's evening news anchor back in the late 70s.

Ask him about the night he had his humble Tucson correspondent do an interrupt over a Phoenix Suns game about a Tucson bond election that we, down at Newsradio 14 KTUC, weren't even covering.

He probably had to call his (not so ;)) humble Tucson correspondent, since
legend has it Maples would put locks on all the (rotary) phone dials after
business hours so the staffers couldn't run up the long distance phone bill.

Perhaps however the control room phone was left unrestricted.

No toll restrictions there in 1980, the phones were no longer rotary, but the newsroom was the former mens toilet stall, we typed news copy on the back of old press releases, and the rubber bands had been discarded from Valley National Bank.

And come to think of it, the humble Tucson correspondent was working at KNST the night Kath put me on the Suns network (and KTUC) with the bond election bulletin.
