Allen Media Group exploring stations sale

Not necessarily. An appeals court recently struck down the FCC's ban on Big-4 cross ownership, and the FCC seems unlikely to appeal. While I suspect some of the tripolies in this deal will be spun to other buyers, I'd expect that the duopolies will be allowed. Scripps and Gray also engaged in swaps last week that involved doubling up with Top-4 stations in several markets.

I knew that Byron I'm A Cheap Skate Allen couldn't sell all his TV stations to one owner and had to be done piece meal. I knew Gray wasn't going to buy WJRT since they sold it to Byron when Gray bought Meredith a few years ago, now I hope his syndication dreck goes away with the new owners taking over.

at the time Gray couldn't own more than one of the "big 4" so thats why they sold to Allen Media. In theory they could buy it now but decided against it

has to do with ownerships Gray already has in markets. As example, KIMT Mason City, IA/Rochester, MN cantr be sold to Gray as they already own two stations in the market. They own KTTC NBC and KXLT Fox

I understand Gray won't be buying them, at least not likely, but I believe AMG still has that, and other stations, on the block still.
