ALLIE SKINNER LEAVES WGY

It was mentioned on the Don Weeks show this morning that it was the last day for Allie Skinner, who had been the morning newcaster. Apparently, she has accepted another position out of radio. So what happens now? Will WGY ask Al Roney back to do the news which he did there before doing talk? Will he still go with this internet station that was mentioned in another topic? Does he end up at talk 1300, and Kelly Stevens end up doing news at WGY with Don Weeks? Some of this is probably far fetched, but food for thought.

Who knows. Probably higher someone new on the cheap.

Doubt Roney will be back. Reading the news pays a lot less than doing a talk radio gig.

Ali seems to have a lot on the ball. While I don’t know what was behind her leaving, she’s better off getting out of the building before it goes up in flames. If things were so good there, why would she have sought out another gig? Given the dire financial straits CC is in, it would be surprising if a replacement was hired. Custer will just have to go on the air a little earlier. Ali was a great foil for the SO, SO TIRED DON (oh God make him retire…tomorrow!). And as valiantly as Chuck tries to steer or defuse Don’s faux pas, he often comes off as Week’s handler. The real mystery to me is why Jim Napp has stayed. As natural talent goes he really leaves the remaining two newsies in the dust. He may just have waited too long to leave this ever shrinking market in this dying industry. And please don’t post that we have gads of music stations to fill the void. As the U.S. hits the skids listeners want more facts, not MUSIC stations with the meaningless tripe that has passed for too long as information. The appetite for mindless amusement has seen its zenith. You left at just the right moment Ali - And Kudos again for asking Dr. Daines “the” question that knocked the unconstitutional mandatory flu vaccination program on its rear. You dear lady were unlike any other news person in the State. You were a true journalist. Good Luck!

WGY puts Al Roney back on in the morning for 2 reasons. It keeps him off competitor Talk1300 and he would make a good successor to Don Weeks. Makes more sense than Joe Gallagher as the successor to Don Weeks!

KB in case you missed rs_joe's post about the non-"announcement" from PV "…at this time, Al has learned of legal hurdles that his prior employer placed in his path..."

Your post KB…WGY puts Al Roney back on in the morning for 2 reasons. It keeps him off competitor Talk1300 and he would make a good successor to Don Weeks. Makes more sense than Joe Gallagher as the successor to Don Weeks! This is without foundation and reckless.

KB-Where are you coming from? I don’t know Al personally but it’s not hard to imagine that a former employer who tried to prevent someone from earning a livelihood after they blew him out, would not be on the short list of companies that he’d ever deal with again. WGDJ is not a threat to WGY…Joe Gallagher as a successor to Weeks? What possible reason would you have for fomenting things with such a statement?

AxelM, wait and see...
