Looks like everything's back to normal. WBRU's website has a new message posted on it:

"Thank you to Rich Lupo, owner of Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel, for swooping in and saving the radio station! Also thank you to the tens of thousands of fans who showed up at the radio station to support us. Buddy-FM has been vanquished! The Original Alt Rock lives on!"

Say, who started this silly rumor anyway?
Edited by rockchick on 04/02/06 02:02 AM.

I realize people on radio boards will talk about something like this & I have to give BRU credit but I wonder how many of their loyal listeners really believed it while it was going on. What I also liked, and this is more of an inside thing,is that it was a good parody of variety formats playing everything from Faith Hill to Boston. By the way,the last 3 songs played before the switch were The Impression That I Get,The End Of The World As We Know It,& The Time Of Your Life, the last of which was the Seinfeld swan song.

People were pissed.
The only reason why people believed it was because BRU
was thought to be professional in ALL ways.
Next time I hear something really sad going on at BRU,
I just will consider the source.
Its like telling someone you just got fired ,
from a job you love.
Sorry, but it wasn`t funny .
Now Geoff GooDTime Charlie saying he was going to the Doctor
to become a woman, THATS FUNNY!

Re: It sure was SILLY!!!

Silly?? Yes.

Did it create a buzz?? Yes.

Did it get people talking?? Yes.

Was it a success?? If WBRU-95.5 pulls away from WHJY-94.1 in total audience and in key demos to become Rhode Island's dominant rock station, this prank will have been worth it.

Don't be stupid. It kept you up all night and kept BRU's audience talking. What about the rest of the world? It wasn't even 24 hours of the spring book so don't go claiming it was meant to pull anyone away from HJY. It was a joke for WBRU's audience only. The BRU crew is on the air calling each other dude again. Joke over. It was fun.
